I just sold the last of my freshwater fish and bought this 20 gal aquarium I'm hoping to make it an SPS reef I am going to buy a skimmer this weekend and then the week after ill buy sand and water the rock I'm going to use is just limestone rocks and seed them this is the tank :)

I got aragonite sand today what do u guys think about running the wet/dry filter on this tank? It's the stock one that came with it, am sorta just taking this tank as it comes haha ill get rock and water next week

I know no one is following yet but I ordered a 165watt full spectrum led and is dimmable it will be shipped tomorrow hopefully :)

Ill have to see what else I can add to it still stuck for stock ideas just want to keep it simple one or 2 fish and just packs of coral

I have my lights so stoked how long do u think it will take to cycle with cured live rock in there I don't have the nitrite ammonia test only the master reef kit

I would wait at least a month before adding anything. You could add bacteria or a raw shrimp to help the cycle along.

Sorry for no updates lately :/ still waiting on the cycle seen a few big pods in the tank I'm guessing that there from the cured live rock I put in I also I put in some media I had in my skimmer return to try stop micro bubbles would that help speed up the cycle? It's pretty much seeded media

Imo every little bit helps but nature has to do its thing in your tank. For some tanks it happens faster than others. What you have put in your system from another system helps introduce organisms to your water, but the breakdown of the ammonia cycle into nitrates and nitrites there is no way to speed up.

Do you think it's weird that its been 3 weeks and haven't seen any diatoms yet or do they usually take a bit longer
