Hello guys, i have a 125g tank. 72x18x20. I bought 3 of the 200w gen 2 nicrews. I hung at 8in of water. I bought a par meter off Amazon. I set my lights to 100 B 100V 10 W 5 R 5 G. Its saying at bottom of my tank is 80 and top at water level only 205. Something ain't right lol. There no way I belive that's right. I was watching some review videos and they were getting 200 at bottom of there 24 tall tank. Yall think it could be the par meter or am I doing something wrong. Thank you

12.6 x 6.3 and 120 degrees. Puck diameter is probably about 1/2 that 6.3".
That"s the lights data.
5" height off the water line is a starting point not 8".
At 8" your spreading your light like 30" front to back on an 18" wide tank.
It could be the par meter but I'd start with adjusting the height.

Thank you. I really appreciate that. I'll move them down more.

8..13(12.6 actual light)...8...13...8...13...8
If you want a more even light spread left to right you would change the spacing from the above symetric estimate to like
6....13...10...13...10...13...6...
For simplicity I just rounded a bit.

Then measure.

I've got 3 of these lights about 8 inches from the water on a 150 gallon 6 foot tank. Lights are spaced about 10 inches from each side and one in the center, evenly spaced. Blues and UV/violet are at 100. Whites are at 25 and red and green are at 7. I'm on a 8 hour time with 1 hour ramp up and down. I've got green film algae on the glass everywhere within 2 days. I've got mixed reef with sps and a small clam at the top. Sps are colorful with no rtn or stn. Should I turn the blues down? My par meter is showing 450 mid way and 200 on the sand bed. Something is not right. I need help setting these new lights up.

Also... Which PAR meter did you get? Spacing and height are important, but the meter plays a factor also. Some of the cheaper ones need "correction factors" applied to get a decent idea based on the "standard" Apogee measurement.

You’re not doing anything wrong and the PAR numbers are most likely correct. I say this because I recently upgraded from a Gen 1 100W to the Gen 2 100W for my mixed reef mostly SPS nano. With the Gen 1 I was getting around 300 PAR
(30% W, 100% B) at the top of my rock work. With the Gen 2 set at the same height from the water surface and with the same settings (30% W,R and G 100% B and V) I was getting substantially less PAR than what I was getting with the Gen 1. I had to lower the light a few inches and increase the settings (50% W, R and G 100% B and V) just to see an increase in PAR. It probably has something to do with the frosted lenses and increased spread, both which enhance mixing of the different color spectrums but unfortunately decreases PAR.

You are correct. The old 90 degree lenses direct more light down (higher PAR). The new 120 degree lenses spread it out more (less PAR). It's the same issue people complained about with the Gen 6 Radions (compared to Gen 5).

You can lower the light, or try to find the 90 degree lenses for the new Gen 2 Nicrew lights.
