So around the same time I picked up a frag of the Tyree Fire Ball acropora from wetthumbfrags and a frag of the Raspberry Limeade Hyacinthus from rockymountainfrags. After they have both acclimated to my tank.... I can't tell them apart. Ha ha. I don't think either looks anything like the Tyree Fire Ball acro on reeffarmers. Curious if someone made a mistake or what? Opinions? FireBall pics?

I think they are the same....probably the same as the ORA red planet too. I think there are still wild colonies harvested of this coral and people get there hands on them from time to time....and they give them a name.....

Color is similar to the red planet, but growth is way different, I have red planet too. I messaged Wetthumbfrags and they say I must have actually gotten the Tierra del Fuego and not the Fire Ball.

They are def the same frag, but not the red planet. Those are some nice sized frags. Did they come in that size?

Definitely the same, two great lookin' corals!

I agree with the others, they are a huge number of named corals with this exact color, to add to the list of already mentioned corals, rommels watermellon acropora.

As mentioned, the grow patterns might vary a lot. For example, my rommels grows super dense and is tabling out, keeping an almost flat plane on the top.

I have rommels watermelon and they are both different for sure. I have seen large colonies of everything except the frag from Wetthumb. But I do aggree there are lots of similar corals out there and its crazy the price some frags demand when VERY similar frags have been around for years. But I love it, and am a coral junky.

Both frags were very generous for sure. Rockymountainfrags and Wetthumbfrags never disappoint.

ya know.. although their colors are very similar. I think they may indeed be different. the frag on the left has a slightly larger corallite with a larger polyp compared to the one on the right. teh tips of the acro is also differnt

I do see slight differences, but they were grown in two completely different systems and have only been in the same system for maybe 6 weeks. The one on the right is still not fully colored up, but according to wetthumb is the Tierra del Fuego acro, relatively new name to the hobby. The one on the left is rockymountainfrags Raspberry Limeade Hyacinthus and they have had that colony for years.

Bringing this back up, I am curious if you guys think that the frag on the right is really the Tierra del Fuego? It is colored up slightly since the pic, but I just want to make sure that what I have is the Tierra del Fuego. Just kinda concerned, since it wasn't what I ordered, and that is what they said it was.

I definitely wasn't complaining..... just wanted to make sure that's what it was. Woo Hooo I will check the Tierra del Fuego off the list. Now I need to still look for the Tyree Fireball.

Imho I think they are the same. It's very hard to tell but if you really want to know you can frag a small branch of each and put them in the same plug!! if they fuse then they were the same or you got a new tierra del fuego raspberry limade graft that could be worth $$$ but probably nobody could tell them apart LOL... if they don't fuse well....
