What are your experiences with these wrasses? Any opinions on which is better? Which is more peaceful? Which one has a better personality? I have found that pink streak tend to be less available and more rare. Is there any place that sell quarantined pink streak wrasse? Which wrasse is better for pest control? On Dr Reef they sell possum wrasse but not pink streak wrasse. Any opinions and suggestions are much appreciated!

Once my pink streak settled it is out and about and visible all the time. Certainly not cryptic. My friends experience was similar.

They are both peaceful.

I got mine QT from Fishotel but probably took me a year to get it.

I have seen them very occasionally at other QT venders.

A list of some QT venders, basically stalk all of them but expect it to take awhile:

Alien Reef Aquatics
FisHotel
Ocean Devotion
QT Reef
TSM Aquatics
Pacific East Aquaculture

and ofc Dr Reef as you mentioned

I use a variety of QT venders as some get fish that others do not.

Is there any advantage of each wrasse over the other? If not I will probably go for the wrasse that is more readily available.

I have a pink streak in one tank and a yellow banded possum in another. Behavior of both is similar. Neither of mine are really very active. They'll come out to eat and I'll see then occasionally but ussualy I have to look for them. I keep two sixlines, one with the possum wrasse and one in a seperate tank. The sixlines are hunting in the rocks all day. I don't really see the pink streak or the possum wrasse hunting much. Pink streak is nicer looking fish IMO, it has much brighter color. Can't help with vendors as I don't buy QTd fish. Mine were purchased locally.

Straight away, Pink streaks are better for pest control.
I have a pair and have had 6-7. I’ve also had both Wetmorella and Pseudocheilinops in an LFS environment.

Generally in terms of ease of care, I would say Pseudocheilinops is better. Wetmorella are mostly going to hunt for pods (especially the white banded species’) they also tend to be more secretive at first and take longer to come out.
However, Pink Streaks are harder to come across - mostly because from memory they’re seasonal, coming around in February-April and then again in October-December.
Pest control wise, I trust Pseudocheilinops more as they are able to get larger pests (Mine eradicated Monti Eating Nudis - I’ve struggled to do this when I’ve had Wetmorella).

Hope this somewhat helps :)

I've had both (not at the same time). Can't speak to pest control. As others have said, behavior is very similar.

What I have noticed with each is that while they are typically cryptic, spend most time in/very near the rocks ... that changed when I had fairy wrasses in the tank. In the presence of fairy wrasses each became much more brazen and spent MUCH more time out in the water column. Even in midday.

This same 'boost in courage' was seen in each fish ... in two different tanks ... both of which had the fairy wrasses either added or removed while the Psuedocheilinops/Wetmorella were present. Fairy wrasses present — braver, fairy wrasses not present — more cryptic.

A meleagris wrasses was present the whole time as well ... but inspired no such increase in bravery.

I bought a pink streak after struggling with an explosion of flatworms. I tried flatworm exit, cautiously at first and then becoming more aggressive with the treatment after a lack of success. Flatworm Exit seemed to kill 30-40% of them, then I'd have a mini crash of the tank (despite netting the dead ones, using carbon etc.) It just seemed to disrupt the balance but not completely kill all the flatworms, I was frustrated.

After a while I remembered something I learned early in the hobby, that the natural fix is usually the best one, so I ordered a Pink Streak from my LFS. It completely eradicated the flatworms in no time and I haven't seen a single one in 6+ months.

He is a cool little addition to my nano, not super cryptic, but a tad shy when my bossy clowns are active. Along wiht my dejongi, he's my favorite fish. I say he, because I don't know how to sex them, but I would love to have a pair one day!

10/10 recommend getting one.

The possum wrasse is out all the time. My pink streak took four years to come out all the time!

Will a pink streaked wrasse be ok with a melanarus in a 100g?
I’d be cautious with that as pinkies can be quite shy and timid whilst melanurus are often quite boisterous in comparison.

I have tired two pink streaked wrasses in my 30g, and have never seen either of them after adding to my tank, its very strange, to this day I still cannot confirm that they died (I'm guessing they did) though I thought I might have seen one at the back of my tank........
