I've been searching high and low and cannot find a list of macros that might be recommended for a triton sump. Can anyone chime in? I currently have chaeto and dragons breath, and I'm realizing now that its simply not enough macros to consume the nitrates.

I would love to see @Triton US chime in as well.

Thanks!

I spent a lot of money buying a variety of macros only for chaeto to starve them out. My phosphate and nitrates are super low. My advise is stick with chaeto and upgrade light. I put a hps one mine and nearly throw out a 5 gal buck of chaeto a week

Wow that's crazy! I have a BML fuge light on mine, it does grow quite fast. My nitrates are still creeping up so I figured I'd add some more with hopes of getting nitrates lower. I only feed once a day and feed reef roids once a week. I have a feeling a lot of the nitrates are hiding in my DSB.

Try xenia. I had some hitchhike into my QT tank, where it grew like a bad weed and outcompeted green hair algae.

Agreed! Save the fancy stuff for display. Chaeto is your work house. Go big on lighting, tons of Veg LED fixtures for possible heat management.

At times I got the feeling the only thing I am good at, in this hobby, is growing Chaeto
