I've tried to post to FB groups, but unfortunately most of them will not approve or remove my post.
Example of “rule broken”. Give me a break lol :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

Well that sucks! I know my thread got removed on here because apparently talking about a lawsuit is prohibited. Seems like a stupid rule.

Agreed, it’s only a fraction of a fraction. There’s probably less than 500 failed tanks compared to the hundreds of thousands of tanks Red Sea has sold.
In 30 years of working with professionally with aquariums…far too many to count…I have never seen a glass aquarium leak without there being an obvious cause. 30 years. Thousands of tanks. No leaks.

500 RS tank failures is an absolutely absurd number.

Maybe it is as simple as the lack of support for the front panel. The cabinet does not go under that front glass which I questioned the LFS. Now that I have bubbles on the front panel ..... We are going to repair and place a base that fits under the WHOLE tank and not leave the front panel hanging. It is just not logical.
Can you recommend a traditional tank that would fit close to the 425? Maybe you can point us in the right direction to someone who modifies tanks?
This setup I did the inside correctly.....and now the tank looks to about to leak.

We use Planet for custom glass tanks, and Glass Cages from time to time.

I don’t have a lot of spec knowledge of RS tanks, but it looks like the 425 is about 90gal? Dimensions look close to a traditional 90, just a couple of inches shorter and wider. Shouldn’t be hard to find a non-RS option for that size. Planet and GC will make whatever you want, but you’ll pay more than the RS. And they definitely will not warranty their tank if you put it on a RS stand.

I’ve been in this game for a long time, and clearly remember when RS was a lower-tier company. It surprised me when they surged so much. Looks like we’re now witnessing the regression toward their mean. I sold a small RS Reefer to a client who wanted a 40-ish gal for lobby, and didn’t want to pay custom prices for it. It has been a problem from day one, especially the light. Never again.

I wish I knew all this before I bought rs. BRS showed them on their show. Now I really cannot trust them.

You can......Just watch for product placement. I ALWAYS do my due diligence before spending money on anything. BRS does have some really good info on there.

Sorry never had a Red Sea after seeing them in my customers stores. Just hit the counter out of curiosity. Oops.

Not mine, but here in Brazil red sea tanks are beyond expensive so there aren't many and apparently the few are failing, this one is a 525xl and busted the seam yesterday

I’ve been tracking alongside these ridiculous breaks how Sales Entities are responsible for sending us Red Sea ads, all day, to win these tanks

And then when the tanks break, nobody talks OR helps $

Here’s reefbuilders actively deleting nice comments on the matter, inside a Red Sea sales ad

Are we going to allow sales entities to do this?

@AydenLincoln I too have had a thread removed over the matter. I just tread lighter on the matter to try and dance around as needed.

The ad:

Now deleted by them.

That’s greed and $ in my book.

I sent this request directly to reef beef blog. For them to discuss and warn readers, is reefbeef allowed/permitted to discuss Red Sea seam splits?

Awaiting response.

I am a noob, to the reefer world and thought RS and Waterbox were top tier. I recently just purchased a 300xl not knowing of these issues with front panel failures and currently dont have a failure and need some advice. Unfortunately, I am like most and can't afford another $1000 to replace this. I am considering two options for reinforcement and would greatly appreciate any comments on my engineering "thought process" (not an engineer) 1. Place 1x 1 x 1/4in thick stainless steel angle channel around perimeter attached/sealed w/ ASI Silicone. Run the channel along the side walls front to back to provide front panel vertical stability. Run another piece along the front panel to provide outward strength. 2. Second option being, buy a cut to spec 1/2in plate glass for the entire bottom of tank, essentially adding an additional bond for all panels and essentially fusing the entire tank to one piece of glass, again using ASI Silicone for attachment. Thoughts?

New to the RS scene. Does this also happen to the framed in at the top RS tanks to? Such as the Red Sea Max 650-S?
