Hello everyone I’ve been on the forum for many years. This isn’t my first tank I’ve had several from a 100 gallon AIO to a custom 300 gallon. This was back in the metal halide and deep sand bed days lol.

Had to leave the hobby for many years do to my job moving me around. Can’t keep a good reef tank when you’re never around.

So I decided to give it another round as you all know this hobby is a lifestyle.

So I watch a lot of BRS and I want to keep my system free of pest and as little casualties as possible. With that said I’m doing the 4 month cycle procedure. Im not in any rush rushed it several times before and it didn’t go that well.

I’m in about the 1 month of the cycling period in a couple of weeks or so I’m ordering the ultimate refugium starter pack from Algae barn. Then in about another month I will start adding fish. The first fish I’m looking at is a couple of tangs from AlgaeBarn.

I forgot to add pictures of the lights. If you can see I made a modification to the Aquatic life T5 hybrid. I didn’t like how they had the cords on both sides so I moved one so that they’re on the same side.

This is what I have so far:

Skimmer: Reef Octopus elite 200-int 8” super cone

Return pump: Neptune COR 20

Refugium: light: Kessil H380 II led

Controller: Neptune Apex

ATO: Tunze Osmolator 3155

Pumps: 2 WAV 4000 GPH (thinking about adding 2 MP40’s as well)

Reservoir: innovative Marine Aqua Gadget 15 gallon hydrofill

Calcium Reactor: Vertex RX-C 6D, with the Kamoer pump and the Carbon Doser (and I have the apex PM1 coming for the PH probe) electronic CO2 regulator

Carbon/ GFO: Bulk Reef Supply GFO & Carbon reactor Deluxe

Lights: 2 Ecotech Radion XR30W G4 Pro (reeflink), with Aquatic life 48” Hybrid T5HO 4x54w fixture (thinking about changing it to the Giesemann 59” Stellar T5 4x80w Hybrid fixture, and either another Radion XR30 or a XR15)

Rocks: Marcorocks Reef saver aquarium dry live rock

Sand: Caribsea Original grade ocean direct live reef sand

I wouldnt start the fuge until the tank is cycled and you have fish. There is a brs series where they tried to do the fuge too early and it failed.
Great tank and setup though. Glad to see someone taking their time. Happy Reefing!

Almost done cycling... I thought this would be easy, not really. Even though this isn’t my first tank doing a long cycle is hard you see so many deals and livestock you just really want and can’t get. But for all the new reefers out there patients will pay off in the long run.

Hung my lights, I keep the 48” Aquatic life hybrid T5 fixture and I have the 2 Radion XR30W G4 pro and added a XR15W G4 pro. Waiting on the 4 ATI Blue Plus bulbs.
