That’s interesting. But I thought the biggest issue was the bottom seam. Perhaps it’s a lack of aquarium building knowledge on my part, but I don’t see how the eurobrace would prevent the bottom seam from failing unless it’s because it aids in preventing flexing on the front pane eventually leading to the failure of the bottom seam by non-braced tanks.

Won't go near a redsea tank ever again.

Nothing would scream "we Fd up" more than actually admitting to the issue, what the issue was (silicone likely), and what you did to fix it.

Not just a change in the product.

It's an improvement, however confidence in their product is all but lost so probably tough to recover without more detail and failure analysis to explain to the Distributers and General Public that the problem with seam failures is corrected. The extended warranty they offered a while back would be all but meaningless to me and most because of the headache and stress dealing with leaking tank.

That’s exactly what a euro does from a structual standpoint Shane.. it keeps the panel flat so all the pressure is on the glass and not the silicone.. once a piece of glass is bowing it creates pressure on the silicone “flexes it” because it’s glued straight and then you have failure.

Thanks so much, was trying to figure out WHY they went with the eurobrace when the issue was seems at the bottom.

Still staying away from RS for the moment, really eying a WB. But since I'm still couple years out from bigger tanks will just see what happens. If the brace truly fixes the issue I MAY consider the RS as very local company pretty much just sells them.

They had all sorts of issues with the stands, under sized glass and bad silicone if you ask me… they went super cheap for maximum profit and it bit them 🤷🏻‍♂️… first they fixed the stands with a updated support that didn’t cure them. Then it was glass deflection and poor silicone.

As I said. MAY. I am going in skeptical but if I held the belief many reefers here do for CPU's, I'd still be rocking a new gen Intel instead of AMD because for the longest time "AMD sucks and will heat your house/set it on fire."

I do not completely write off a company because of prior issues; but wont blindly believe they fixed stuff until it is proven. Hence the "may" in big bold letters.

Just chiming in to say it isn't just bottom seams that fail and it isn't always larger tanks. There have been quite a few vertical seams fail. I agree that its a failure of the silicone.
This is the top of a vertical seam that failed on my reefer 170.

As a former RedSea multi-tank owner F-RedSea tanks and F-RedSea. I use their rollers, but, they don’t get my subscription business for replacement fleece. The way they handled this over the years. I’d leave the hobby if the only display mankind could purchase were RedSea displays. Period.

Don't get your expectations up. When mine failed I got a big fat middle finger from them.

Totally agree. I just got the finger from them today, after being asked for multiple pics. Lesson learned, will now go with a Waterbox which I originally preferred anyway.

Red Sea is sending ANOTHER 100% free G2 tank. I asked "if G3 is better why not replace it with that instead of another G2 which has failed on me twice now?" Response: If you wanted to upgrade to a Reefer 425 G3 system, we can apply the MSRP of the Reefer 425 G2 glass replacement ($1,569.75) as a credit toward the cost of the G3 system. This would leave a pre-tax remaining balance of $1,929.25.

I told them to just send the G2.

I'd LIKE to get an acrylic replacement that fits on this stand. Just not sure WHICH one would be good.

You won't like Acrylic. just scratch's too easy. I would use the G2 and reinforce it with eurobracing top and bottom.

If i were in your position I would eurobrace the tank, top and bottom, before even filling it the 1st time.

I do like the larger S-850 and S-1000 Redsea tanks but having seen more than 3 independently reported seam issues on the S-1000, I’m going to wait until RedSea comes out with G4. And publicly saying they build the G4 using a quality silicone like Wacker/ASI/GE/Dupont or whatever mix Disney uses for their large aquariums

I was gifted a brand new 625 G2 and wanted to eurobrace it before I put water in it for the first time. Any suggestions or advice on how to eurobrace it?

Essentially, you're siliconing a 2" strip of glass(same thickness as tank) all the way around the inside of tank- top and bottom.

Looking at my tank for example. Starting with the bottom; the strip should go the full length of tank(front and back) and then the side strips goes between those connecting front to back. Cut 1st and glue together so it dries together. Done with bottom.

The top is a little more complicated. Same concept but the strip running the length of tank is about 1/2" below the top of tank(as that's how thick the glass is), and the front to back strips go the full distance- pane to pane(on top the long strip) rather than between the strips(like the bottom). The center brace also goes on top the long strip, glued to it and the front/ rear panes themselves.

You will need to clean with alcohol, use proper silicone, and clamp it all until it dries.
@UncommonSense may be up to date on which products to use/ techniques...
