Is there any reef safe Ich medicine or remedy? I already have copper for a qt tank but I don’t know if I’ll be able to get my sick gramma or clown goby out my tank. Of course I’ll keep trying and even move my rock scape if I have too. Both of them are well fed and healthy before getting sick so they are pretty fat. Also what about a UV sterilizer I heard it helps control ich in the tank.

Ich isn't too bad in the scheme of possibilities if you move quickly.

UV will help, but micron filtration might be even more effective since ich (actually Cryptocaryon) – do both if you can.

Look up Ruby Reef and use their reef-safe treatments on top of the UV/micron.

Ruby feed is a content creator or a member of reef2reef?

I don't know any medication for it, but I'm only just getting back into the hobby so others might, there are methods to fight it both technological and biological though, UV sterilizers will kill any free floating parasites, cleaner shrimp, cleaner wrass and I think Neon Gobi will pick the stuff off of other fish.

Not sure ruby reef helps haha. Ich medications are snake oil. The best solution for ich if you don’t want to go down the QT route is the following:

UV on a slower setting for longer contact with parasites.

Feed very healthy food for fish to build immunity. LRS and Rods Food

Live Worms to build up gut. Black worms or white worms.

Add Vita Chem and Selcon to food.

Good luck.

From what I've learned from those in the know here at R2R, you can practice Ich management in a display tank, which may keep it at bay. Feeding a very high quality and varied diet can help, as can a properly tuned UV and micron filters etc.

However, the guys here at R2R that I consider the disease experts will tell you that none of the above will "cure" an active outbreak of Ich. To treat fish with Ich effectively they typically suggest using CopperPower in a separate QT tank (treating all fish, not just those with symptoms (because they've all been exposed)). Or, by treating with hypo salinity.

Using products like Ruby Rally pro that are "reef safe" are also for the same reasons "Ich safe", and therefore not the best choice to treat an active outbreak.

Here's The R2R current QT protocol if anyone needs it:

No.

I tried absolutely every reef safe treatment/management and the only thing which worked is proper treatment and fallow for 50 days on high temps.

Ich is not that bad, but can flare up time to time if there is stress/an event - at some point I had enough of watching the white dots and treated it and since then I proactively treat it.

My preferred treatment is chloroquine, but next time I switch to tank transfer as I don't have anymore cp and you can't get it here easily.

Please stop recommending ich products they don’t work.

Thanks for your guys input! I won’t be getting ich medication but will still invest into a UV sterilizer. I will still try to get them into a QT tank

Bottom line, anything reef safe is also ich safe.

(1) "Treatment". Products like ruby reef, polylab and others. These are generally reef safe but also do not eradicate ich. Varies from product to product but they are generally supportive in nature. Nothing wrong with that, just not likely going to be a permanent solution.

(2) "Management". Properly sized and calibrated UV. Support your fish with good quality foods and water parameters. Keep stress low. Hope for the best. More successful than many would like to admit depending on your fish choices.

(3) "The Actual Fix". Take all your fish out of the tank and QT them properly. Leave the tank fallow for a set period of time to properly kill off the Ich without harming your other reef inhabitants. Takes months but the only guaranteed method. Very extensive to execute...up to you if its worth it.
