A little over 3 year old Reefer 250 front seam about to fail. we noticed a few days before Christmas that sand was seeping into the front seam, honestly ignored it for a few days. it rapidly got worse with more and more sand pouring into the seam, did some searching in this forum and was shocked/horrified to find that these commonly fail. We were up till 1am the day after Christmas moving all the fish, rock/coral, and sand into a 40g emergency tank. I am so dissappointed right now that a $2000 tank would fail like this so quickly. the 40g emergency tank is 10+ years old and cost maybe $50 brand new and it holds water better than a $2000 tank?
We are in contact with Red Sea but we are out of warranty and i dont have my receipt anymore so not expecting for a good answer from them...
I personally would love to upgrade to a Reefer 350 G2 but my wife does not trust them anymore if Red Sea doesnt replace the tank then we probably are going to be looking at Seapora/Aqueon 90g Reef Ready/Megaflow tanks with an eShoppes or Trigger systems sump. I know how to drill tanks but i want something quick and simple to setup. Has anyone heard of a G2 system having seam issues?
does anyone have tips for making sure the corals stay healthy after the move? we have many aquariums but this is our only tank with coral we are fairly new to coral keeping...we have a Seachem Tidal I put polyfill in with chemipure, we have a Fluval 307 canister running, as well as a Reef Octo HoB Skimmer..I moved the Prime 16 lights and Nero 5 powerheads. I am monitoring salinity and temperature daily and will probably do 10-20% water changes maybe twice a week?
