I’ve had about 15 rock flowers for about 6 months and they haven’t spawned at all. Am I doing something wrong?

no. every tank is different, and you could also have no "males" in your tank. i had like 13 in mine, and i don't believe to have had any spawning events.

I know they are not the same, but I have had a BTA for almost a year that hasn't split. Every tank is different!

I don't know the mechanism with which they time their spawn (and there's a chance it isn't known), but you can try to take the cues from other animals and replicate those in your own system.

For corals, moon cycle lighting counts and blocking out stray light around the tank at night counts for a lot. There is also evidence that yearly temperature fluctuations on the order of a few degrees contribute to the timing. With other inverts like urchins, I know it's common to spawn them basically with thermal shock - you put them in a bath of warmer water and they will spawn within an hour or two.

Provided you are feeding them enough for them to be producing gametes, I would imagine than a moonlight cycle, reduced out-of-tank lighting at night, and some temperature fluctuation (at least over the year) will probably encourage some spawning, but it may only be once or twice a year, not sure what their normal schedule is.

It's also highly unlikely that you have no males... 15 coin flips coming up the same in a row is an extremely, extremely small chance.

Maybe try letting your skimmer over flow if you run one. Probably coincidence but not too long ago mine overflowed and dumped all the nasty (?) stuff back into the water. Within minutes my zoas opened up larger than I had ever seen them and my RFA started spawning. I don't know that they spawn during daylight hours.

I have had mine spawn twice, I have 2 adult RFA's. Right now there is 4 babies I am keeping track of. The first spawn I think a Peppermint shrimp I had ate them. I will say my tank was having major phosphate issues each time they spawned. Maybe letting skimmer over flow like above person said, is the key lol

J/k about the music. But not kidding about the mood. I target feed mine a couple times a week. I haven't done that in several weeks because of holiday and busy setting up a new tank, and there have been no spawns during that time.

I did a water change and they spawned that night, no idea if it’s related or not though. Mine have spawned several times though this is the first time I saw it. I find new babies once in a while so I know this isn’t the first time.
