Anybody else get nervous every time you hang a new light up or is it just me???

Looks great. I'll be hanging my ATI from 14' ceilings tomorrow. Moving the tank next Sunday.

I’ve actually decided I’m going to redo my hanging solution and put a shelf above that I can mount the light to instead. I like the idea of the shelf being solid wood so it’s a very solid hold

My light isn’t even close to center even though I thought I centered it with the studs. It’s off about 3”.

Ya my last light was mounted to a shelf. It was awesome until I set a thing of food up there while feeding. Knocked it into the tank and nuked the tank lol.

I feel your pain on the centering thing. My current light is off about an inch or so. And we measured it about 46 times lol

Thankfully, the shelf won’t be accessible since there will be very little room above the shelf and ceiling.

I would hang from the ceiling but where the tank sits is right underneath the air returns and ductwork for my HVAC so there is nothing to really grab into

The slim line stand comes with basic hinges that aren’t soft close. So I swapped them out to soft close “anti rust” hinges. I’m not sure I buy the anti rust part but we will see. They came off Amazon.

However, the middle door is a half overlay instead of full overlay so I picked up some hinges from Lowe’s for that.

I have switched up the light hanging situation and will hopefully have it back together tonight. TBS is shipping my sand tomorrow for Wednesday delivery so this tank will see corals and fish soon. Just need the female connectors for my DIY ballasts to arrive and we will be full steam ahead

For the new light mount I used heavy duty (1200lbs per pair) shelving brackets from Home Depot. I didn’t need the 1200lbs part but instead the 16” length. I will be attaching a shelf above (actually 2 shelves since they are only 12” each) that is 18” deep. Then I will attach the light right to this shelf. Since the shelf is fiberboard, I am drilling a hole through and using a nut and bolt to attach the cable system. I don’t trust screws in cheap, pressed fiberboard to hold the weight.

can i ask how many lbs of TBS sand you got and what it ended up costing?

The current sand in there is old dry special grade and was only like 10-15 pounds. Filled up more than I thought. I ordered 40lbs of TBS sand but will only need like 20 of it I’m guessing. I want to say it was like $280-300. I’d have to look. I ordered it early to mid May

Wondering if i took maybe 10 lbs of my current sand that im switching over from my 69g and did 40 lbs from tbs to am 83g 48x20x20? Will 20 be enough? I don’t need a deep sand bed and there will be lots of flow in the tank so i like the flow friendly stuff, not the dust i currently have in my tank.

You will like their sand. I ordered some for my new build as well. I already had some that I got in their Sand & Rox Box for my 40B temporary tank.

It is larger grain sand. It has a lot of broken shells/corals, etc in it. Plus, lots of critters and great biodiversity.

You will like their sand. I ordered some for my new build as well. I already had some that I got in their Sand & Rox Box for my 40B temporary tank.

It’s been in my 25g for almost 9 months and I agree it’s good stuff
