If you don’t mind me asking how old is your tank? Have you had any issues with salt creep on your electronics? I think I’m going to do the same basic idea you have there. I’m trying to finagle a way to get a larger ATO FW container in there also.

I just got back from Lowe’s and all they had was white melamine board (I wanted black since the tank cabinet is black). I got an 8’x15” board and a couple packs of hinges and some of those cabinet magnetic keeper-closed things. I’m gonna see what I can come up with. ATO container might end up finding home being on the outside next to the stand.

I had it about a year. The apex it has been there for 6 months or so... everything still pretty new so to see salt creeping up would be difficult. I tried to kind of dust everything off weekly and double check the sump every night to make sure everything works well. You can see the progression on my profile from nano to reefer250. I kind of change things a bit because I did put a 5 gallon ATO with the ATK also I install the DOS with the DDR. I'll share a pic soon.
Good luck with your built !!!

I have a 250 that I am in the cleaning, and gather equipment stage. I would like to go with one of the jebao DC pumps, after reading several reviews positive reviews. Any recommendation as to which one I should buy was thinking the DCS-5000 but wondering if that is to much flow? Any recommendations would be great! Can't wait to start my build thread after my wedding in 3 weeks.
i had DCP3000 on my RSR 350 and with manifold running return and fuge pump was struggling at 100% . Now i have DCP-10000 and nice quite and no lack of pressure

Wow. How'd you get it inside? I understand they just do curbside drop off so for me living in an apartment building getting a 250 up elevators etc might be tough.
Road Runner here in Michigan dropped it of in the garage and from there on me and my 16 yr old got it in house and assembled one piece at the time

Question: Can I use a 4000gph return pump on my reefer 350 stock plumbing?
i use DCP-10000 Jabao and i had to raise the water level in return compartment do to the size of the pump but my DCP-4000 wasn't cutting it with the manifold splitting in to fuge and bit of the head loss .... so if you get bigger pump keep the physical size of the pump in mind

Love alot of these setups, but looking for advice, currently have a 24x24 cube with twin Primes and upgrading to a Reefer 350 system that i have won, honestly not sure where to go in regards to lighting, thinking two Radion XR30 g4 Pros or going with a 6 bulb 48" ATI system to try a different style of lighting, my primes get OK growth but not a fan of the shadowing, how would the 2 XR30 go for coverage? anyone advise what they ran on their 350 system?
Thanks for any help
i have 3 AI Primes HD on my RSR 350 100% coverage no dark spots except under the rock arch

New Reefer question here. May be a dumb questions. But how many sets of Fikter socks do you have and how often do you change them? I see a lot of guys have modded the sock draws. Can you still use the reefer ATO?

One of the reasons people modified that is because you go tru them every 2 days or so depending on your system but they do get clogged up pretty quick. With the filter media cups for example I just change the piece of filtration inside and put the new one and move on. No cleaning the sick or anything. You can still use the original ATO but that too you will have to fill out every other day because it's 2 gallons and it goes pretty quick.

I have a dozen socks and change them out every 4-7 days. I have two clear acrylic bins(Large Kritter Keeper - https://www.petsolutions.com/C/Hams...MI-uOZ5Z2W1wIV2bjACh14_wqsEAQYBSABEgIrRfD_BwE) that sit on a shelf in my laundry room... one for clean socks and another for dirty socks. When I need to change out the socks, I grab two clean ones and then bring the dirty bin to the sump with me. I pull the dirty ones out of the sump and into the dirty bin they go. I then put the dirty bin back on the shelf... this takes all of 60 seconds. And no, the bin does not stink up the laundry room at all... you literally cannot smell it. Then once I get down to the last 2 clean ones, I pop those in the sump and toss the 10 dirty ones into the washing machine. It's virtually zero work. No mess, no fuss. I replace those 12 socks, with new ones, once/year. The only ones that last that long seem to be the ones from Premium Aquatics. I've tried the ones from BRS, Marine Depot and ones of off Amazon... none of them last near as long as the Premium Aquatics.

Now if you live in an apartment and don't have easy access to a washing machine or don't have a place to store the dirty socks like I do, then the filter floss in a perforated cup may work out better. But for me I just don't see how I can shave much off of that 60 seconds lol.

As for the trays still sliding out with the 4" socks, you would also need to cut/grind down the sides of the black tray holder.... thus making the opening in the tray holder the same width as the sock ring.

Hi all! I’ve really enjoyed this thread it’s been immensely helpful.

I have not posted much and simply enjoyed everyone’s builds. I’ve been reefing for over a decade running a couple small systems I pieced together over the years and finally decided to startup a bigger reef and shut down the old ones before they literally collapse starting with the particle board stands.

When I found this thread I was inspired by everyone’s incredible systems and I pulled the trigger.

I’ve been quietly documenting my build on my build thread without too much traffic but need some opinions so thought I’d post here.

I’ve been dry-fitting my plumbing trying various schemes. My system is the 425xl and the sump area is a bit tighter than those gorgeous 450 and 525 setups on this thread. I’m trying to keep it clean and practical and have three reactor valves and incorporate my 1 inch flow meter. I also wanted a mechanism for cleaning the sump. To achieve this I wanted a shut off valve to the display and a secondary “T” 1/2 inch line with a valve that dumps into the oncoming drain area. By turning off flow to the display and redirecting into the sump I will be able to stir it up and filter through the socks thus cleaning the sump.

I’m going to be using a Pax Bellum 18 which will sit in the back of the sump and get fed by a line coming off the third gate valve into theN18’s (on the bottom)inlet.

I’m only going to run a second reactor with carbon and have a third open gate in case I need something plumbed off the manifold in the future.

I think I’ve arrived at a scheme that works but want some other eyes to point out issues or something I’m overlooking. Thanks for your help!
