What in the world? I just saw a single tentacle of my torch floating around in the water. Has anyone seen this before?

Seriously? Was it just like, old growth that fell off? I’ve never heard of that.yeahs that normal
I’ve heard of polyp bailout, but I thought that was a last ditch survival mechanism, and would be the whole head.I don’t know what makes them do it but i had my torches experience this and there was no negative affect after that. Usually they call it a polyp bailout
How wild. Thanks for the reassurance. I was really worried. They’ve been doing well, so I kind of panicked.Yup I agree completely normal. Even some of my nems tentacles are found in the tank
True but your goodI’ve heard of polyp bailout, but I thought that was a last ditch survival mechanism, and would be the whole head.
It’s reassuring to hear yours were fine after this happening.
At least nems might be able to regrow or stick on somethjng to continue its life but not Euphyllia.Yup I agree completely normal. Even some of my nems tentacles are found in the tank
It’s possible that let say if it has two and one fell off, yes it can be regrown to two or even more. However, if an actual head is fell off, I am pretty certain, it’s done. One day I found the tips of my torch tenticles either nibbled of or somehow fell. They regrew just fine. Corals will regrow what they lose.

I mis read lol.No-one said anything about a head coming off.
I’m a little worried about that, but the only fish in the tank that is new is a small regal tang. Are they known for nipping? This happens with my torch occasionally as well but I always suspect someone maybe was also nipping
What do you mean ?At least nems might be able to regrow or stick on somethjng to continue its life but not Euphyllia.
