I am working on a in wall build, and have been told I should paint the stand and surrounding areas with an exterior latex paint to protect the painted areas. I would love to hear some feedback on this, and the benefits/drawbacks please. Thanks.

I would prefer to use an alkyd paint, definitely the best choice for cabinets and waterproofing and wash ability.
Alkyd is our highest quality premium alkyd wall and trim enamel. It has been specially formulated to provide excellent coverage and factory-finish appearance with brush, roller or spray application. It's the perfect choice for interior trim and wall surfaces in all commercial applications. Alkyd features excellent hardness, toughness and block resistance, making this product ideal for windows, wood trim and cabinets. The highly durable and lustrous finish is wear and burnish resistant, protects against moisture, and is washable.

thanks for the heads up. Finished today!

water based enamels are just as good if not better than oil based paints these days - oil will yellow in no time

I went with rustoleum enamel and it produced a nice, durable coat which smoothed nicely on unfinished 2x4's and plywood. I recommend 2 coats
