So I am new to Led's and do not want to burn my whole tank up so what is the best way to switch from ATI t5's over to my reeffiltration LED they are epistar 2w each. My t5's do not have the uv guard on them so I have all ready went through a'lot just to adjust my system to them over 3 month's of slowly moving the light lower and lower each week with a screen over top. so how far should I start them out above the water the tank is 19 inches deep, and how many layers of screen should I use?

If they are dimmable you could start off with a percentage like 30% and then every 2 weeks bring them up 5% till you get the look you want. If they arent dimmable then I would hang them say 12" off the top of the water and run them only for like 4 hrs a day for a week or 2 and then over a month increase the time by 15-30 min incraments.

I wouldn't do length of time changes, they will still be getting a different intensity of light. Instead, hang them high and use eggcrate/ light diffuser to help lower PAR.
Dimmable would help alot though
