Apologies for the horrendous title. I couldn’t help it.

I was worried the anthias wouldn’t touch the pellets, but the real curveball was the large orange shoulder tang.

Although I offered both medium and large sizes, the orange shoulder hasn’t consumed either. In perspective, even the small lyretail ate the large pellet size (with a bit of a struggle, but got it down).

Do you think it’s a lost cause? Will my OST (orange shoulder tang) eventually eat it?

Also, is TDO Chromaboost nutritionally complete for a marine fish’s diet? @Reef Nutrition

I don’t see trace element, supplements, or minerals added in the ingredients list like other competitors. Is this food more like a treat?

I bought some because it was "all the rage", and none of my fish will touch it???? They will eat the cheap BRS pellets and the Hikari Marine-S pellets and of course frozen. TDO, they just spit it out????

Retagging @Reef Nutrition because I wasn’t sure if editing in the tag would bypass the notification.

Thanks for chiming in. At least I’m not the only one. I’ll try a different brand. I like New Life Spectrum because it’s been around for a long time. I’ve seen Moorish Idols on it.

I bought some to ghost feed my tank until I get fish, partly because Tank raised Mandarins are supposed to eat them (the very small sizes.
Yes. I did read that online. I think it’s super cool we can get mandarins to eat prepared foods.

Have you noticed the lack of trace elements and minerals in the ingredients list?

I’ve not looked at the list until now, but I would not assume a natural food needs added trace elements. They will be a component of the natural components, such as krill, squid, etc. :)

I'm finally back from travel and found this thread. Thanks for tagging us. I recall you a few years ago talking about TDO. Sounds like you are giving it a go @Miami Reef.

Glad to hear your tang came around and is eating it. Sometimes it takes multiple attempts for some fish; it's not unheard of.

I can assure you that this food is not a "treat" as it is applied in marine and freshwater ornamental aquaculture as a broodstock, weaning and growout food. As for the ingredients, it does indeed contain vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Those things are, in large part, in the krill, fish and squid meal as Randy mentioned.

Yes. I asked about the calcium phosphate content before lol.

It doesn’t seem to be raising my PO4 at all compared to other foods. So far, so good!

My biota yellow tang hasn’t eaten it yet, but every other fish likes it a lot. My water is much cleaner, and I’m excited to note potential fish color changes!

My picky damsels won't eat it??? I guess they are spoiled by Reef Frenzy? The funny thing is they will eat Marine-S, but it's probably more like junk food I'm guessing :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

Introducing new food can be challenging. Sorry you have picky fish that won't touch it.

Probably better all around if they focus their grazing on algae. :)

Randall the yellow tang is eating Chromaboost. Maybe I should remove “all” and add a “y” at the end. He’s a good fish.

The natural progression seems to be ignore pellet > taste and spit > consume.

I’ve been using it in auto feeders for almost a year. Didn’t realize it was “all the rage.” I just stumbled upon it on BRS and bought it. All my fish eat it. Tangs, wrasses, anthias, gobies. I use it with a mix of 3 different dry pellets and freeze dried mysis.

That’s how I eat pellet foods. lol
