A rather uncommon one; candy pencil wrasse.

Well…..it happened. I was such an angel fan until I saw my first leopard in real life. My LFS had a blue star leopard, I immediately asked if she was eating and how long it been at the store. Confirmed it ate, brought her home. Been in QT and eating like a pig.

Now I want to add more leopards. Any advise, I will start looking thru the 1400 pages,

Here's some advice: add another one!

Just kidding, I'm not sure on compatibility but from my understanding Leopards can be mixed.

From research, not personal experience.

Maximum one male leopard with multiple females of any leopard species. If doing females of the same species as the male, do at least two females to spread the aggression. The ornate leopard is more aggressive than the other species of leopards, so is best avoided with multiple leopards.

Guys, I need help!

Been looking at wrasses which I can source through various ways (imports & our main dealer). And ones which I’ve always loved but never pulled the trigger on are Anampses femininus and Anampses lennardi.

Now, obviously they’re both colder water species, with Fems generally being able to tolerate upto 23.5°c (74.3°F) and Lennardi tolerating closer to the 24°c (75°F). Now. Obviously my tank currently runs close to the 24°c but I’m aiming to see if I can go as low as 23.5°c to open the Fem as an option.
But, if these get crossed off the list for one way or another, I’d love some ideas of other wrasses (or fish in general) - I’m going to do a full post about this for some more options. But, here is my full stocklist:

I'm no wrasse identifier expert but I kinda did a quick Google identify, and a Cloud Wrasse, Halichoeres nebulosus, from a picture I saw seems to fit the bill based on pattern and the green coming through

Hi wrasse lovers! While I go back and read 1400 pages of this thread, I also come seeing advice.

I have started thinking about the next fish I want to add, as well as the long term goals for fish in the tank on my SR60 which is my first reef tank! I currently have a clown pair and also intended to add an orchid dottyback, yellow watchman and then was thinking of 2 potential wrasses to add.

I have been drawn to flashers, but really anything with color that isn't going to outright terrorize the tankmates I have plans for. Outside of the above mentioned I have some peppermint shrimp and porcelain crabs that I would prefer they not make a snack of, but if that is unavoidable I understand.

Hawkfish are one I’ve crossed off as after moving them with wrasses previously, it has always wound up with the hawk being pulled for killing/stressing the wrasses. I’d love another angel but I’m also planning another butterfly at some point (either Marginalis or Madagascan Gold Rim) so I’m leaving them blank currently.

I’ve landed both Lennardi and Femininus several times (always for customers) - The biggest difficulty I’ve found with them is always the temperature increase. It’s why I intend to drop my tank down to a reasonable range with 23-23.5°C.
Lennardi I’m willing to cut for a Femininus (assuming I land one - I’d only attempt to land it once and if it goes badly, obviously then cut it out of the plan).

Luteovittatus is a good call! If I wasn’t also considering the Cirrhilabrus randalli in the shop display at some point, I’d absolutely have one on that list! Flashers are also on the list, but I’m playing it carefully with my other wrasses and will be waiting for decent sized ones of specific species (one I’ve always considered was the Mauritian Flasher/Piscilineatus)

Thanks, the Johnsoni seem to have a nice little personality and peaceful. This pair has been in my system for a little over a month, and are my favorites right now. Always a concern when keeping a pair, but the male has not been too persistent. Leaves the female alone during the day, and flashes and pursues her a little in the evening. So far it's been perfect.

Hey everyone . Doing a reboot into reefing . As some of you may know I had the “terrible, bad, go thru hell year” where I had medical issues, lost my wife and had to find new digs. This leads to that I just purchased a IM 25 gallon lagoon this past week and would like some ideas on wrasses that would work. I know possum, pink streak and 6 line are possibilities . Any other that might be able live in this tank?

Got the first batch of wrasses into the 240 gallon since removing the eels and grouper.

Much happier with it as a tank full of smaller reef fish.

Current wrasses include:
Paracheilinus carpenteri
Paracheilinus mccoskeri (Maldives)
Paracheilinus lineopuncatus
Cirrhilabrus aurantidorsalis
Cirrhilabrus isosceles

Hoping to add a black and meleagris leopard, a couple different pencil wrasses, and a few more fairy wrasses. Gonna give it some time though, as I want all these guys to settle and need to save a bit of money for National Frog Fest in March so I can add to my poison dart frog collection.

Got this guy from reeflounge back in October. Cheapest I’ve ever seen one. Doing good eating like a pig and gets along with my other leopards. A real model citizen.
