Im gonna upgrade my FOWLR tank and wanted to get some opinions on size. I only have space in my living room for a 4foot tank. my questions is would a 4' 150 be sufficent space for the fish I currently have. I have a few fish that get large and I don't want to have to upgrade again once they reach adult hood. here is my list

2 saddle back clown
1 yellow watchman goby
1 flame angel
1 melanarus wrasse
1 porcupine puffer
1 koran angel

the puffer and koran are the ones im worried about. right now they are both 1.5", so would a 150 or even a 120 at the least be ok or will I have to upgrade again in a few years.

thanks
Bob

The biggest concern would be with the Koran Angel. It will eventually reach over a foot in length and need a much larger tank with ample swimming room and plenty of live rock to graze on. You should be fine for a while, but once it gets full size you'll need to upgrade again. The porcupine puffer can also get close to a foot in length, but isn't as much of an active swimmer. You could probably get away with a 150g even when he approaches full size.

yeah thats what I was worried about. I want the tank in the living room but my wife isn't gonna let me put a 6' tank in here. I can always go to the basement with it, but were never down there so I don't really want to go that route. what to do what to do

Honestly nither the angel or puffer will make good reef mates of do well in any tank under 500 gal or so... Have you seen a adult puffer??? Were talking 18" long or so and big as a basket ball.... One other concern is the puffer getting sucked up in a power head with the high flow...

yeah I've read that the puffers can get really big, but to be honest this fish is all part of a master plan. See my wife isn't into the hobby much however, she loved this baby puffer when we saw it. I knew that it would get big thats why I got it so she would get attached and then I'd be able to get a big tank when it gets to be an adult. I may just upgrade to a 150 then when we move homes in two to three years I'll get a giant tank. How long will it take to get that big? I know there are a lot of variables to it but are we talking a year or maybe two or three?
