Woke up this morning to a flood.

35 gallons of top off in the floor. The hose from the auto top off found its way out of the sump and into the floor.

Happened to me last week only it was in my basement bedroom and it's all carpeted..

Same probably 30-50 gallons. Thank God for large dehumidifiers and fans

No seriously that sucks!! Gonna have to secure that puppy better! Hopefully nothing got totally ruined. Thankfully it's some nice clean water. [emoji16]

The carpeted part stinks. I'm using fans and a dehumidifier too. Also a carpet steamer.

I just added the Auto Top Off last week. It is to the 300 gallon livestock trough sump. I didn't secure it because I wanted to make sure it worked before tightening everything down. Then I forgot! :oops:

It's a Tunze ATO, so it come with a holder. I didn't use it because it feeds into the livestock trough sump. The lip on it is round, so I loosely zip tied it to the power supply line to a powerhead. It is tightly zip tied now. In two places.

Dang I hate it when stuff like this happens. My Tunze Osmolator alarm saved me last night! I have everything kinda temporarily set up because of the new move and build and I had the feed line from the FW reservoir fixed in a way where a siphon was kicking off after the ATO started. Thank goodness it was just a drip but the alarm warned me and I was able to save the tank from getting filled with FW as well as soaking the floor. I am going to go ahead and set up my Apex leak detectors today!

If it makes you feel any better, last week I uninstalled an defunct dishwasher and thought I had enough slack in the line to pull it out from under the cabinet before turning the water supply off. I was wrong, broke the plastic supply line and dumped a LOT of hot water all over the laminate flooring in the kitchen, and then found out the cutoff valve was stuck. I then had to go cut off the water main into the house which was down in the basement.

Leak detectors that scream can be horrible for other pets, if you're not home to hear it. Keep that in mind.

Dude, I just did this again last night. I almost always make RODI in my shower, but for some reason last night I just left is on the bathroom floor and forgot it. At least it wasn't that much. Not like that other time that I forgot to put the waste water into the drain ended up seriously flooding our bedroom. Had to replace the carpet that time... :(

I have a leak detector that dials to my mobile, my wife's and my daughter's just in case. At least it gives me some relief. The detector also monitors temperature and power. If power shut off in the tank I also get a call.

I seem to have a tendency to do that too. My mixing can is 35 gallons and my RODI produces 75 gallons/day. I have been known to fall asleep at night, get up in the morning and go to work without shutting off the water. My wife wakes up to a flood in the laundry room!! I need to figure something out. I think im moving my mixing Station to the garage. Atleast I will only get the garage floor wet if I decide to brain farther again. There is something to be said about having a house built on a concrete slab!!

After many RODI overflows, usually discovered when it started raining in the basement, I installed an inexpensive float valve from BRS. I don't count on it to do all the work, I also have a ball valve that shuts off the water to the float valve, the float valve is a bit of piece of mind. I don't have to watch it all the time, just shut it off once the container is full.
