I’ve been dealing for dinos for 3 years. Tried everything and everything failed. With low phosphate, high phosphate, medium phosphate with any combination of nitrates. Anyhow, I just tried the last hope solution : dino-x. Dinos were so nasty it didn’t work on its own but when combined with a 5 day black-out, it might be working.

So I guess some creatures are now happy to move the sand around without getting toxins in their face. The problem is, dino-x killed my brittle star and most of my snails. I have no crabs left either, AFAIK.

I do have a yellow wrasse that buries in the sand, but she wouldn’t be burying in 4-5 different spots. I also have a pistol shrimp but not sure if she survived dinos. Also she likes to stay in one hidden spot in the rocks.

Any ideas ?

eta : the middle picture is my pistol shrimps spot. So it’s probably still alive. You can see the trail she leaves, unlike on the other pictures.

My guess would be that the pistol shrimp survived but is moving around looking for a new place. She might be feeling irritated by the treatment and thinking it is from her original home.

Btw...look into the Elegance Corals Dino treatment protocol. It is the only thing that resolved my system of dinos...everything else was a failure.

Thanks. I’ll look into that protocol. I just looked at the sand under more light and they are coming back. I can’t believe it but I expected it.

Not usually. They hover around the Duncan and mushrooms on the left.

I’ve looked into it and I’ve basically done it without knowing its name. Except for daily removal. That’s just too much work for me, I don’t have the ability to do so. But I’ve put daily bacteria (different brands, including Microbacter7) for months, until I had a bacterial bloom (and just as much dinos).

Snow is here for now so it will have to wait. But next summer, around May, I will be dismantling the tank and starting over. Or just not starting again.
