I have been following this Belted Kingfisher most of the summer at Huntley Meadows Park Va. It has become less and less skittish (Kingfishers are notoriously tough to approach). Can't tell you how many out of focus hunting dive shots I have deleted. This image was taken yesterday, but the ***bird would never face the camera. (Probably shouldn't show a fish getting eaten on this site, but it is a freshwater fish).
Nikon D5, 50mm, f7.1, ss 1/2500, ISO 800, tripod.

Trying to get lunch can be hard work

I admit the evil in me once made me post a reply in a forum along the lines of "If you want to learn to take good pictures of birds get one and staple it to a tree to practice on"
I apologize for that. No birds where harmed in the taking of any of these pictures.

We live between two State game lands and a state park. We get herds of deer walking through our yard all times of year. The day before there were 15 or so at one time.

Here's a couple bucks. One on the left is eight points, and six on the right.

20181012_Huntley Meadows_103436_5008140-Luminar-2.jpg Little Green Heron gets the best of a Bullfrog tadpole. Starting to get colder weather in Northern Virginia and I was interested to see an immature frog this late in the season. Did a little research and found that Bullfrogs may take two years to get to full size and as a tadpole can hibernate through the winter. Good thing for the Herons!

Southeastern, CT here...back country. So we've got plenty of deer, so many in fact that my Louisana relatives get an itch to go hunting whenever they visit but I have to remind them this is CT and to even insult a deer up here could earn you serious jail time. We've also got an abundance of the usual woodland critters such as chipmunks, squirrel, groundhogs, and skunks. Lots of coyotes and wild turkeys too. Had snapping turtles hatch in our yard once and had a bald eagle circle our (toy) dog while he was playing in the yard. Saw a fox a couple times. Waiting for the day they sight a bear around here as they seem to get closer and closer every year. Also expecting a verifiable bobcat sighting one of these days too. Nothing too outstanding in the way of birds yet. except a horned owl. That was cool. Hummingbirds on occasion are pretty cool too.
