I think Utter Chaos if i remember correctly
My youngest son got me an early Christmas present that arrived today, a rainbow pectinia and a white zombie zoa which is pretty cool considering he didn’t ask me and has never had a saltwater tank.

Wow! Stunning tank and amazing husbandry!

I love the simplicity of the tank, it’s how I’ve ran mine also and had truly the best results.

Do you do water changes and if so what salt do you use?

I started reef keeping in 1986 with under gravel filters and powerheads. Things were simple and a whole lot cheaper. We were pioneers because nobody knew anything and there was nobody to ask.

Hello Sam7 Here, My tank is mostly just a simple tank. It doesnt have a sump, just a aquaclear 70 HOB. I only run filter pad and occasionally carbon. For a skimmer a Reef octopus 90 with a automatic shut off skimmate collector. Two Icecap 2k gyre pumps for flow. Also has a diy ATO. For lighting i have a ReefBreeders Phyton V2 Pro. The salt i use is Instant Ocean regular and previously on the same tank i used Reef Crystals. I have never in my whole reefing time used any other salt. I have one small doser pumps that i dose All For Reef 12 times a day at a rate of 30ml's per day....it varies as you know. The doser im not sure if you can still get it but its the older bluetooth X1 by Kamoer. My system backup in case power failure is two 100ah lifepo4 batteries with fast auto switch over to battery and back in case of power outage with solar panels for recharge in addition to grid power charge. I am not very good at photos and cameras but i will add some to best of my abilites.

I forgot to add i do have a rodi system that i use to make all my 0 TDS water for my saltwater changes. I ocassionally change out 5 gallons ever so often, no set schedule based on looks not tests. I do use phyto i feel it helps my 3 feather dusters and maybe my sponge, possibly my fathead dendros no proof though. Rarely i will experiment with amminos but basically nothing but frozen food

Thanks so much for posting this setup. I, like you, have a 40 gallon without a sump. I've been hoping to see another sumpless 40 gallon setup. You have really given me some insights and ideas. Always open to learn new ways to maintain a sumpless system.
