Sorry to hear...sux :(:(
Sucks Wally. All equipment fails, all fish jump, etc etc. This hobby is one big exercise in Murphy's law
So sorry about the male Watanabei.
Thanks guys.
After a night of soaking in the Loss, I am still upset.
I don't really mean this, but I kind of wish both fish jumped.
A pair is what made having the Angels special.

I'm trying to convince myself that having one will be ok, but it's tough to accept.
I already have a Blue Green Chromis, so a Blue fish isn't my top pick. I'd rather have a Red Fish. (Color mix)
Plus that tail is taking so long to fully restore. Wish the bitten tail fish jumped instead.
Maybe things happen for good reasons. The pair might have fought and I really like the peaceful tank.
I'll get over this eventually. Maybe time to put this fish into DT. The tail isn't bad anymore just needs more regrowth. Probably months.

Tying to think positive. I know I'd be more upset if my Ice Fire, and Rainbow Loom bleached (but they didn't and doing really well).

I think shutting down the QT tank, and making it a Frag Tank like designed, might help ME heal.

Holy Smokes. The Cariberryi anthias Grew up.

I was so distracted by the Angel Fish jumping I never looked at other fish.

The 3 Anthias all of a sudden (week away) got bigger. They were smallest fish in Tank by a long shot.
Now they are as big as the Blackcap, and the Blue Green Chromis.
I guess twice a day autofeeder is better then me hand feeding :)

Another Positive Note (After a week away) CaribSea Shape Rock (Brown Algae) Cleared up

Yes, I am grasping to find positive things after Fish Loss.

43956238372_b22c60621d_b.jpg

The caribSea Rock cleared up during week away.

I can tell the Frags are showing Color Improvements. More PE with colored PE too.

The Near Dead Forest Fire
continues to be getting better and better. (Even see new growth)

I am about to do a water change on DT. Use that water change to acclimatize the Frag Tank with the remaining Wanatabei Angel.
Then I will move him over to DT.

Buy another angel. I hope i"m not the one to break it to you, but fish are NEVER true pairs. They just shove a male and female together and call it a "pair" those fish have probably never seen each other before being sold. Just how the business works.

I meant "pair of fish, Male and a Female". Not Lifelong mates or something along those lines.
As far as a 2nd Wanatabei "Male" Replacement, that may not be an easy find. I've never seen any before around here.
I did find some on sale in the USA and like $200+. I paid around $150 for the pair since on Sale.
So let's see how this one does.
She may do fine alone. Will the other fish get along peaceful is my biggest concern since I really like the peaceful/calm tank (said that a million times).

Ouch! I'm sorry to hear about those prices... You can find them in my area for about $50 -- but Southern California is the mecca of reefing.

If you do you'll be stuck with tons of frags. We can't legally get gar, Asian arowana, or fw stingray here tho. So it seems pretty equal

hmmm Asian Arowanna. I've seen those in the stores. Creep me out!! Kind of mean they keep them in a tank 1.5 times it's length. Poor UGLY thing just does circles.

But on the Topic of Replacement Angel. The main reason I am upset is these were the last two fish for the DT.
The thought of Doing QT again isn't on my top 10 list of things I like to do.

They can be pretty, but the ugly low quality ones still go for a few grand. Nice ones are legit 6 figure fish.

As for QT, just give it time. Take a month or two off and you'll want to add something eventually.

Ok. 24 hours has passed.

I'm ready to start QT again. Maybe after I move out Angel Tonight.

Here is a few reasons worth starting the QT up.

#1) I found a Wrasse I like
#2) It's Red which is what I don't have in my DT
#3) It a Magma Wrasse. Two available. Considering ONE only at the price.

One has a bitten tail (very small bite), the other perfect.

42213787920_26c2a140c1_c.jpg

I asked that they feed them and they eat Frozen vigorously. Bit aggressive towards each other during feeding.

A bit small for my liking, but it would be interested to have a Unique, not so common fish.

I will be going back to Store to watch them daily.

Well thsoe are cool fish, one shouldn't be too bad either. Little is good, they'll get get accustomed to the fish in your tank without having a huge attitude.

Female Wanatabei Angel (Moved to DT) Very Nice Transition and Acceptance

I did a careful acclimatization, and Angel is in DT.

29086541367_d34b0d5866_z.jpg

This is the kind of Fish-Add I like.

Resident fish, hardly noticed him. No chasing, no aggressive behavior.

He found a nice sized Cave that nobody cares about. Even came out to eat.

He will do well, and will increase the Nutrient in the Tank since he can eat a Good Portion.

Good to hear. Did they happen to be able to see each other while the tank was going through QT? I wonder if seeing one another helped a bit.

I always tell people our fish are always gonna be a little skittish because they have no idea when that shark is going to come by. In that spirit, totally uneventful additions are pretty rare. Makes me wonder if seeing one another helped or if luck was on your side

No visbility at all, Qt was around the Corner, so no line of sight.

Amazing how The Angel has adapter, with DT Tank Mates.

Swimming around like he has been around for a while. Even Chasing out the Anthias from his Cave.
Passing other fish, including the Blue Green Chromis Bully. No reaction at all.
(* Actually the Blue Green Chromis has drastically Calmed Down. Must be the Blue-Blue mix *)

Tank is starting to look FISH BUSY.

Only enough room left for 1 more FISH.

QT Setup for POSSIBLE (Magma Wrasse) Fortress, 3 layer Jump Security.

I lost 3 fish in this DT, with Shabby Covers. (The Tri-Color Wrasse, An Anthias, and the Angel)

So I spent time making sure no Jump Escape this time.

Layer 1 Security is Edge Guards with Fine Mesh Cover (Clip-On-removable). (Plus some improvements inside the Tank itself)

Layer 2 Security Maintenance Access Guards (Removeable EggCratge Sections)

Layer 3 Security (Richochet Deflector Shield. Egg Crate Cover. Custom Fit)

Tank was also cleaned and water 15% Changed, with some Stability Water Conditioner Additive. (Running Carbon thru a Sock)

Maybe only 1 big fish, or a flashing wrasse, sure... But you've got room for a half dozen little gobies easy.

I would highly encourage a neon goby in addition to a whatever you pickuo, they're active fish cleaners and they will setup shop like a cleaner shrimp -- except fish will prefer to use him lol.

Otherwise I would recommend a bunch of cool little cryptic critters. Neon goby, tangaroa goby, prawn goby, high fin goby, yasha hase goby, pygmy geometric hawkfish, etc etc.

Big fish are awesome, sure, but the little guys exploring all the nooks and crannies are what make me watch my tank the most

Maybe I should give up on the MAGMA Wrasse and for the same money get a bunch of Gobies.

I went to the LFS and looked watch the MAGMA's. They are a bit aggressive to each other (but only to each other).

However they do Have good appetites.

Will decide tomorrow. Planning to bring in some Mushroom on plugs (loose ones from other tank) for some trade in value.
