2" foam ok?

i need to lift my acrylic tank up a couple inches for plumbing clearance. i know people put the thin foam insulation under there tanks. i was wondering if i could use the 2" thick stuff? im just worried the weight might compress the foam to much or unevenly

I think it would compress.

You might want to use a wood frame or run the plumbing under the existing stand.

thin foam is used because it does compress which more evenly distributes the weight and makes up for warps and bumps in the stand.

Dont use foam under your tank if it is glass. Glass tanks are made to support the weight around the edges and allow the bottom to bow a little. Acrylic tanks are usually flush at the bottom and I doubt you would have the same issue if that is the case

I agree, I wouldn't chance it with the 2" foam.

after talking to my a couple engineers i use to work with i ended up useing the foam board. seems to be working great with no compression yet

Don't ever use foam!!!!! I took my one of a kind drop tank down because the stupid foam collapsed... And it was only 1/2" thick...:(
