Survived the storm just fine, worked a bunch extra today on accident. Got home from work, all was well. Went to go get food, got home with said food (maybe 15 min later) and noticed something in the road.

Had Matt stop the car, it's a hawk and breathing.

He knows me well, "I'll bring a bin and a towel" I scooped him up and we're waiting on wildlife rescue to come get him now.

Injury center of his back and what looks like a broken wing.

Drank some water on his own though, and perked up significantly from when I scooped him out of the road.

We soft open tomorrow at noon.... Hopefully.... Waiting on the county to get out and provide the certificate of occupancy. Hurricane delayed everything, understandably.

It was a nice month of no customers, now back to business as usual.

Things I should be doing today ... Moving initial rock pile to size, trim, smooth and place egg crate.....

Big pickup is Wednesday and it's going to be much more difficult with an additional 170lbs of rock

I know it's a lot, but might consider using a kiddie pool with a skimmer for 3 days, that rock is going to be uncured, nasty smelling, cure it out for a few days ,then add to tank , will not be fully cured in a few days
but a whole lot better that just adding raw ... ;)

I must have missed it. What light you will be using on your new tank?

Just noticed the multibar angelfish. They say multibar angelfish are timid and shy. Anything special did you do for this?

I'm using the reefbreeder I had on the old big tank - this tank is bigger, but it looks to be lighting it up just fine at 1/2 capacity. Haven't done a par check yet but I'm not looking to keep sps so I'm not too concerned.

Next question: he's actually not a multibar angelfish, it's an Australian stripey - I can see the confusion from a far photo though for sure.

Here he is up close, amazing aiptasia eater. Hasn't messed with anything else, eats flake/pellet/frozen no questions asked.

"with caution" general consensus seems to be that some of them can pick at lps, but no reports of soft or sps interference. My current tank is all soft plus one duncan and some rfas, tube nem - he doesn't mess with anything so far and I've had him a few months.

For keeping SPS, whatever you do for dosing calcium, alk and mag. Keep up with testing and dosers/calcium reactor. Adding and growth of corals, consumption goes up. You probably know all of this. But let me say this. A huge spike or drop in DKH or drop in nutrients and all is well, then a few weeks or a month later things die off seemingly with ''no cause''. The damage and stress from any major event can cause corals to die slowly meaning days /weeks or months after the event. it's what happened well before we notice the coral dead or dying that was a contributing factor or the exact reason.

Been there many times in the past 15 years.

Looking forward to your new tank coming together.

Not a big fan of sps in general, last tank had one or two in there but they're just not as interesting to me overall. We'll see what happens with this one, they're not a central part of the plan as of right now. I like my corals squishy.

How have I never heard of this fish!! Are they known to eat aiptaisia? Or are they more hit or miss?
At 1st I was a little upset about you not liking the sticks:pleading-face:, but the last sentence about liking your corals squishy was just too cute.:star-struck: never heard it said like that before
