With the incoming set up of the new place I wanted to spike some interest and inspiration by seeing everyones mixing stations! I know some out there have some absolutely amazing setups so looking forward to seeing what you all have to share! My mixing station now? A 5 gallon bucket, a heater, a powerhead, and a wisk to start things off. I live a simple life when it comes to mixing but in the new place I want to change things up and upgrade!

Lets see YOUR mixing stations, and what do you recommend for anyone building out a new one! Looking forward to start the discussion with you all!

Controls:

Transfer
: rotates ball valve and turns pump on to send water to mixing tank. This procedure will be programmed to end when either the RODI tank hits low float or Salt tank hits high float.

Cancel: simulates end of transfer, ball valve will rotate back to original position towards Salt tank and pump turns off.

Fill: signals solenoid on RODI line to open and fill RODI tank to high float. This is primarily for when the salt tank needs to be refilled and RODI tank is not full.

Mix: signals pump to turn on and run for set amount of time on Salt tank. This will be used when adding new salt after a transfer.

Testing:

Operation:

Hm. 60g plastic drum with a fully removable lid. RO/DI float valve + a high level sensor, in case the float valve fails... Two pumps, one mixing pump, one that pumps back to the sump. Switched power strip, so I can easily turn on and off pumps...

Simple. Don't see any reason for it to be more complex.

Is there some benefit for storing bulk fresh (RO/DI) water? The only thing I use it for is ATO and Kalk reactor, and there's no need to store a large volume of water for that...

The drum is large enough I can do 3 water changes between refills.

They all going to be some what the same. A tank to store your RO/DI water and able to pump to next tank where you add salt and mix and pump to your sump. The different is how big of a tank you need and how are you going to get the water to your sump?

Simple as simple can be. I have added a flexible pvc hose for less splashing when drawing ro/di but getting a 10 gallon ATO would make things easier so I'm not making multiple trips a day.

My mixing station is outlined in this past post.

Garage mixing station

My mixing station is in my garage. Two 65g reservoirs.
RODI water on the left and NSW on the right.
I also do automatic water changes with the dosing pump on the top.
About .5g per day....so the NSW could last me several months if needed.
75g/day RO/DI unit is obvious on the left.
The two Neptune Dosing units run the AWC and my 2 part dosing (different thread if people are interested).
Note the 2-part reagents beneath the reservoirs.
All of this is in the garage to 1) keep it out of the way and clean and 2) I can't stand the dosing unit noise.
Reservoirs are about 15-20 feet away from the DT.

essentially, two 65G reservoirs.
NSW is delivered to sump via dosing pump that adds/removes 1 gallon per day.

hope this helps.

I technically have 2 two mixing stations but one is not fully online yet. The fist one is standard with 2x 100 gallon hdpe tanks with a magdrive 12 for recirculation and a 500watt heater if needed. However this setup will likely only be used as an ATO container from now on. My new mixing station is integrated into the aquarium system which is 2x250 gallon hdpe doorway tanks. These tanks are plumbed into the system and gravity fed from a 400 gallon frag tank. When it's time for a water change I will valve off these tanks off and they will act as a stand alone mixing station. I still need to install the pump out plumbing, recirculation pump, and a radiant heating coil to the mixing station but I don't have a need for a water change in the next few months since it's a brand new system. The nice thing about this setup is that once new water is mixed and parameters are balanced with the system its just a matter of turning a few valves to complete the water change.

this thread makes me ashamed....
I use a couple of Rubbermaid cans, a heater and a pump.
You're not alone. I'm not even willing to share a picture of mine after seeing everyone elses.

Just image two brute cans on a vertical 2x4 frame with pvc to gravity feed from top to bottom, then pile junk on it and that is mine.
