Hello Everyone,

Looking for general advice on 1 of my clowns not eating much and being pretty thin, I expect it's a bullying issue from the other clown in the tank. Fish were bought online as a pair.

Chunk on top Skinny on bottom.

I have a new tank (15g wb aio) 2 months old at this point and pass its brown algae phase. I have had a clown fish pair for a month now in the tank. 1 of the clowns seems pretty thin and had some stringy poop going on, it eats pellets on feeding sometimes and will try and will go for mysis shrimp as well. The other clown is doing great and has fattened up over the last month but has shown some aggression to the other clown. I only have a few frags in the tank so no hosted coral yet.

I have kept freshwater for years so my initial thought is possible bacterial/parasites going on but it's most likely causes by stress/bullying from the other clown. I dont have a saltwater qt and am not sure if it's worth dosing anything. The thin clowns fins are not damaged at all and I'm not seeing any nipped fins etc.

If absolutely needed I can convert my 10g fw hospital tank to salt and separate if needed.

For food try and diversify a little more. Spirulina brine shrimp and get some selcon to soak the pellets in.

Stringy poop could point to an internal infection going on. In that case food soaked in metroplex or using general cure could clear up the issue.

@vetteguy53081 have I missed anything here??

Thank you for the advice! I have meds in stock (i keep discus). I read online that general cure is not reef safe? I have a few frags in my tank and would hate to harm them as well.

In most cases with these fish, the white feces is not internal issue but rather excess mucus in the stomach lining especially if fish are being fed mysis and brine shrimp exclusively
Fish do not show weight loss, etc and add foods such as LRS fish frenzy and TDO pellets to diet and pull off of mysis and you should see change
Metro has to be used precisely at .5gm and makes food taste bitter
