I don’t “bubble” often but I do feel like it has a benefit. All those bubbles have to help clean out the plumbing. If it doesn’t I think it does and it makes me feel better! Haha

Could you explain the bubbling a bit more? I'm imagining youre not putting scrubbing bubbles in your tank

I use an air pump and a lee's wooden air stone to create the bubbles. The wooden air stones creates the "micro" bubbles. The thought is that filling the display with micro bubbles they will lift particles in the water column (and maybe the rocks/corals) and force them into the overflow. That dirt will settle in the sump and not in the display. Pretty neat to also watch the corals as well, some will let go of their slime coat. I am sure another benefit is pumping air into the water, I don't run a skimmer so I don't have constant air being pumped into the water. This is something I do every once in awhile, I don't have it automated if I walk past the tank and the thought crosses my mind I'll turn it on for a few hours!

Hopefully I've explained it well, there are a lot of videos and posts about "bubble scrubbing reef tank" that will I am sure better explain!

Random sponges I found. I was going to pull the rock from the skimmer section but it had sponges as well.

Water changes are the worst, I don’t do them often but when I do it’s 30ish gallons. The clean up is terrible!

Infrared heaters DO help heat up the water!

And my youngest is curious about this situation!

All done for today. Tunze power heads cleaned. Rock in the skimmer section rinsed and cleaned. 25ish water gallon change done. Pulled 2+ gallons of cheato. A lot done today, still need to run vinegar and water through dosing pumps and pull return pump and clean it.

Every time I clean the Tunze power heads the sand in the front of the tanks moves!

Biggest snail I’ve ever seen!

Making water and random coral shots

Currently -13 in Omaha, NE. with -30 windchill. Our city has been doing rolling blackout power outages to conserve energy. Real handy for the reefing community.

Same here in Lincoln good luck!

how’d it go for you guys? We’re expecting rain tomorrow and temps were above freezing finally today!

Tank got some love today. 9ish gallon water change. Used some spare 8020 to finally move the kamoer x1’s to a new mount. I bought a Tunze wave box about a year ago I never got to work right. So I took the pump out and put it in my skimmer section with rock. I do have a small Sicce pump in my return section also.

After so much disruption I did some bubble scrubbing. Need a harlequin shrimp badly!
