What a scum bag! I just had this happen to me, 1:30 am someone climbed my 6 foot fence and was rummaging through my back yard.. must have been embarrassing for him having some old guy make him eat dirt while the police were on the way ;Hilarious

Yea he's got nerve. Just my work schedule sucks go bed early and leave house early. And I don't have FB or a social media to blast him on. So just wanted to vent. And big worry is the kids and wife are home alone all day

I get off work around 11pm -midnight and I always walk around my house before going inside. I always hope a situation doesn’t come up. We have cameras around our house but there are a few dead spots.

Pirates! I had an old man would snoop and steal flower pots, harmless but aggravating.

2 things I hate most, liars and thieves.

When I first moved in I stayed pretty quiet, resulted in a couple items getting taken from the bed of my truck. I actually got so mad I threw a chop saw in the back of my truck with it wire cable locked to the side, drove around the neighbor hood hoping whom ever was taking my stuff would see it. Knowing my stuff was taken between 10-11 at night (i get up every 2 hours for some reason) I ended up catching the kid, got him in the side of the neck with a 2x4 then pinned him to the ground by his neck. I calmy explained to him what I use to do in the military and what I'd do to his family and kids in front of him if he had any, if I came up missing anything again. Didn't call the cops, just let him go. Ended up being the next door renters daughters boyfriend. Long story short, nothing has come up missing or no one in my yard for 6 years counting.

I don't talk to anyone in my neighbor hood. No idea what they think of me. With the exception of my one neighbor. He's a nam vet. I cut his lawn, put his trash out, and do his snow removal out of respect. Very nice man, love talking with him. Always tries to pay me, I might take payment 2 times a year from him (20 dollars) just out of respect.

I too now run full cameras at my house. I also make it know I have more guns on hand then our local swat unit and enjoy cleaning my ar's in full view of my neighbors, when dirty. none are stored at my house, but no one knows that.

Michigan being a open carry state I will sometimes leg strap pistols when I take the dog out for her evening walk. I like to make a firm statement to the neighbor hood kids. They may not remember what I look like, but they remember what the dog looks like, and the gun that went with it. This is a rare occurrence I usually only do if I catch someone (that fits a profile) on camera looking a little to long at my stuff or multiple passes.

Sometimes you just need to make people think some targets are not worth it.

Now I enjoy long range shooting, 1000 to 2700 yards. And I do love my guns. But I am not a gun nut that totes a pistol around in public. I do not conceal carry as I feel no need for it in my daily travels.

My Burban is scary enough as it is. Plus a reflective blue stripe the length of the back window for my brother and support of my local leo's.

You need a blue bully! I promise you won’t have any more problems with the intruder.

I tend not to put people on blast from past experiences. When you confront someone alone and embarrass them it stays between you and them. When you put them on blast, you just called them out in public which can escalate way past what you think could be the max.

Like to handle the situation, get a understanding and be done with it. Somethings don’t get better when put on public display.

I remember when the shores was a desired area, some still is but some areas have gotten dicey.
I’m still in the good area. Just a couple knuckle heads. But yes. Just like every place else, low income and renters tend to make some of the safe areas not so anymore. But luckily they are confined to certain areas.

I refuse to feel unsafe in my own home.

Not a problem here. When Bear puts up the scary hairs it's quite impressive.

Rudy bites too.

We can carry here as well and I am a gun nut. But is has been my general observation that where you can carry a gun you never need one. I never do.

Does your backyard have a fence? Gate? Locked? Just wondering.

Few years back went out to my car, parked in the front of our house, and after I started it had a loud sound. I couldn't figure it out then said oh, must have damaged the muffler although I don't recall. Toyota Sequoia. Anyway shop said hey - your catalytic converters are missing. Someone stole them. Get them replaced and about a month later...same thing happened. File another police report and they say a known gang works from North to South heading down to Stockton port area and move the final product there.

Get them replaced again and between the two narrowed down the time window to when I think this happens. My daughter was working at the time and got home around the same time so there was also a possible threat to her. One night she comes home and said she heard something passing the car. I decide to take our German Shepherd out to go to the bathroom. She starts to do her thing and smells something and ears are forward towards the car. I extend the lead and let her walk towards and stop giving a sit commend. She hears the rustle and as someone starts to exit from under the car, dropping his DIY pipe cutter (this time I had rebar welded on so they couldn't cut, the chase is on.

Perp starts to run, I say yield, they continue to run, I accidently drop the lead and the dog proceeds to intercept perp. Truck comes around the corner, I give command to stop, down, stay as the little lad jumps into passing truck and drives away. I notify police and they take a statement. Once that was over the police officer proceeded to tell me that it was a bad idea had the dog bit the person I could be liable. I said well, I didn't know he was under my car at 0130 AM when I took my dog out to go to the bathroom. My daughter also got home around that time and said someone was under the car or near our front window in a bush and felt threatened. I then said what would have been a better solution? Scare the lad with a trained dog or shoot him?

Of course there was no reason to shoot but what am I supposed to do at 0130 in the morning when I'm taking my dog out to go pee and someone is jacking my cars catalytic converters for the 3rd time. I just happen to be outside, he just happened to be under my car, and I accidently dropped the lead as the dog caught something wrong. Once I knew what was going on and recovered from disbelief I gave the stop, stay command(s) and the dog stopped.

Officer said point taken. Petted the dog and left giggling.

Can't push like multiple times!!!! GSD owner here. Best dog ever (yes, I'm biased though so my vote doesn't count)!

Where I live it would not be a good idea. No one around, crazy marsoc marine's house, pig farm 2 miles down the road, and the police force is family. Thieves are not usually a common occurrence due to such a close nit community and the amount of firearms in homes.
