Gauge the need for dosing on alkalinity. If it is not dropping enough to need dosing, calcium and magnesium aren’t either.

Thanks randy, I did my water change today and dkh stayed around 7 when I tested about 8 hours after so I think I will continue 2 part and see the effects this week. Hopefully the parameters level out
