February 2011 POTM Competition

The theme for this month's competition is "Soft Coral." That means anything that doesn't put down a hard skeleton. Enter zoanthids, mushrooms, leathers, non-photosynthetic soft corals, cloves, etc.
Here is the "fine print:"
--Only one entry per person
--Photos must be 800 pixels or less on the long side
--All entries must be your photo
--There may or may not be a prize
--Entries will close on Feb. 15
--Voting will start shortly thereafter and end on Feb. 25

i went way back to get this pic - i don't have this tank or these corals anymore, i gave them to a buddy 2 years ago when i got my new tank
looking back this was a fun little tank, i had most of those corals for about 10 years and wanted to see them get a good home when i decided to go to one tank only

I dig this one i envy you guys with the skills my photos always come out like crap. I think my blue leds don't help much either. It is really hard to get the white balance set. Did you edit this one at all or is that raw cuz if its raw i want a frag.

Thank you! I shot this under my Blue+ T5 and blue LED's. My camera shoots in RAW mode and I adjusted the color to 20K in photoshop. Thats exactly what it looks like under my atinic lights. I got it from baycorals as a devils armor.

I have devils armor but they dont show those colors. That is a really nice zoa. I really like the hint of green on the tips what lens did you use? and what type of body are you shooting with aquarium photography amazes me at some of the shots people get. I really need to invest in a macro lens.

I have a Canon rebel XSi and I used an 18-55mm lens. I haven't invested in a macro lens yet. I just try to get a tight shot and then crop it so it only has what I want in it.

You won't see that color unless you are running super blue actinics or LEDs, or edit it on the PC like he said he did above. Most aren't that bright like that. Nice pic though.
