What level of ammonia are you seeing? I don't like to use Prime for ammonia control (run a search on prime+ammonia here). I prefer Amquel.

If you can see flukes with your naked eye, they are Neobendenia flukes. Those are tough to treat. I prefer to use hyposalinity at 15 ppt for 30 days. You can try prazi, but that doesn't kill the eggs, so you need to do multiple treatments. Some people go 5 treatments, 5 days apart.
It was high the last time I checked which is why I did the water change. I’d have to check again to see what it is now. I’m surprised to hear this about prime because even humble fish recommends using it to help control ammonia. I’ll look into amquel. Thanks Jay!

I saw the flukes once placed in a freshwater bath. I’ve already done 3 treatments so I have no problem doing 5 every 5 days. I just want to know how often I can do a water change then because that’s the only true way to control the ammonia.

Addendum - I meant to say - the best way to manage ammonia in a QT tank in addition to a sponge filter, etc - is water changes - using water with the correct copper concentration. I.e take x gallons out - and add back x gallons at a copper concentration at >2
There’s no copper in this tank just prazi so I don’t have to worry about topping up with new water.
What I really need to know is how often I can safely perform a water change after dosing prazi because that’s the only real way to control the ammonia until a cycle is completed. The qt does have a sponge filter.
Thanks!

Prime seems to be an issue based on people with stronger chemistry backgrounds than I have.

I know the inventor of Amquel and have used it since 1977 or so.

You can change water 24 hours after any prazi treatment, it degrades pretty quickly.
