Not new to Saltwater but new to Reef tanks. I have an old 110 tank (48x24x18) that I put in the attic about 15 years ago. Thinking about bringing it out of retirement and doing a reef or fowler tank. In reading, things have changed in the last 15 years. Looking forward to some good information and ideas.

Welcome back

Drilling a tank for overflow is the way to go.
A tank that was once filled, then stored likely has silicone that is shot.
Have been in the hobby for decades, a lot has changed. Think in the last decade, with the ease of sharing info via internet, the progress has been huge

First thing is to get it out of the attic and fill it in the garage - then go from there.
