Have you considered building it out of plywood? I have never done it but it looks easy enough and you could do the exact dimensions you want pretty cheap

I don’t know anything about that, I’m not very handy at all. I’d need someone that knows what’s going on to tell me about that and do it haha!

My house was brand new build in September so I do want to make sure it’s safe and I understand it.

@HotRocks will be my build guy, but I hesitate to build a tank! I couldn’t build a birdhouse!

The cost of new is expensive.. I do however do build tanls this size but I am located in Canada.

I could give you the acrylic to build the tank at my cost (cheaper then most as i stock 500+ sheets) if you can pick up.

Would be a epic DIY build thread... I can teach you how to glue and so on as well :).

Open to ideas...
I’m intrigued —- honestly, how hard is it to glue? I’ve watched enough tanked to be worried!

I feel like I’d rather go up there and help you do it, and trailer it back!

I got the trailer and the REAL truck to pull it! Let's go! I've already been off work what's a couple more days at this point!

If you've got your passport ready it's about an 8.5 to 9hr drive. If elder can have the pieces cut to size already for you then you could find an arcylic fabricator to do the bonding on site. I'm sure with the resources of this forum it won't be that hard.

Build a temporary support frame and a bunch of clamps to hold the panels in place, then it's just injecting the solvent. It would be much easier to get the tank in place with no damage, individual panels are much lighter and can be moved into place with less effort.

You could have a custom tank with an awesome overflow setup for a fraction of the cost. Sounds like a win win to me.
Where would one find a fabricator, if I go that route? Sorry this is not a skill set or even something I possess remedial knowledge about!

Maybe a casino or restaurant that has a large system is looking to take it down sometime soon. Long shot by far, but about six years ago a local casino here was taking down a large 1000 gallon system and was going to trash it.

My nephew worked there and had them okay to take it away for free. He asked if I wanted it, but what was I going to do with a HUGE tank living in a apartment? It hurt to pass on it, but I had no choice. I had no where to store it and no time to plan.

Barring working out something with Elder I would start searching Acrylic in Google Maps in your area. Also hitting up any local clubs or large stores within a couple hundred miles. That manufacturer I mentioned near you is Marine Design Inc. in Indy. I haven't heard anything bad about the tanks they've made, but nothing good about delivering in any reasonable amount of time. Quote 6 to 8 weeks and a year later still nothing, after taking a large deposit... Maybe with you being local and supplying the acrylic you might have better luck.

Another thing to try is use the power of this site. With all the people you've help over the years I'm sure you'd find more than one that knows what they are doing and happy to lend a hand. I don't even know you that well and if I knew how to solvent weld I'd shoot up there for a weekend to have some fun. I've seen enough of it done but I would be too afraid to start on something of this scale.

I appreciate that and yes I hope to find someone here, I may make a separate post about that depending on what options I can find :)

Still haven’t worked anything out. Willing to drive for a good deal on acrylic and maybe find someone local that could put it all together.
