Well I borrowed a friend's PAR meter and found that it was getting about 75 PAR with my Current USA lights. I upgraded to a Maxspect Razor 150w and slowly ramped up the PAR until it was at about 250.
That's a pretty nice upgrade! what size tank do you have? i've looked at the maxspec lights never had a chance to use one, how do you like it ?

I had a 46 gallon bowfront when I had that light, I have since upgraded to a 200 gallon with kessils. But I really liked the spread and spectrum that I got from the Maxspect, although it was a little blue for my taste.

First pic is the 46, second is the 200. The monti is still recovering from being smothered but the BTA.

20Gallon Challenge! gotta love the 20 gallons. what kinda filters are you running on it, do you have a sump?
No sump, no refugium, no dosing. I do weekly water changes to maintain it. As for filter I only have a cheap 15$ HOB filter I got on Amazon and carbon sponge I cut to size and put in the HOB filter. I replace it about every 2 weeks. IMO it's easier then dosing refugiums, sump etc.

that is the troubling period!! your pretty much through the rough part! cant wait to see that thing full of coral!
how are you liking the kessils do they get good par?
They get slightly lower par than I thought they would but better spread than my Maxspect. It's about 100-175 par throughout the tank.

Pretty impressive results for a HOB filter.! ive never had luck with them but clearly you can. do you spot feel your corals or just let the fish do the work?

I spot feed my Acans, scolys, trachys/meat corals, trumpets and sometimes my mushrooms once a week right after a water change.

so i recently did a PAR check on one of my Acan tanks and i was very interested to find out that almost all my acans and LPS where thriving and coloring up at around 75-100 par. Here are some pic to show you what I mean!
