I have a new 20 gallon fusion from Innovative marine. The tank is very nice but I'm struggling with the built in filtering I'm getting allot of debris floating in the tank. I have one customer caddy and one of the stock filter caddy's. If any one has a tank similar please share your successful tricks you have came up with for the filtering. I am running the Gohst skimmer btw.

If I could do mine over I wouldn't put so much trust in the IM product. Do not get a IM ghost skimmer!!! They are expensive and dosnt work worth a ****! I do however recommend the reactor. It works very well. I to have a custom caddy and all I do is go get the big sheets of a fine filter and I cut it up and stack 2 of them and it catches a lot of floating debris. If you can fit 2 caddy I would swap out the stock one you have. Hope this helps! Good luck

I agree. I have a Fusion 20 too. I also use cut to fit filter pads as well, change them out twice per week. I'm running two Intank media baskets, one is filled with Seachem Matrix- great for nitrate reduction. The other basket has rowa phos, purigen, and Chemi-pure Blue. I have a heavily stocked sps dominated tank and all of my numbers are good and stable. Due to the number of SPS in my tank, I dose two-part everyday, and Acro power twice per week. I do 10% water changes every week. I suggest adding an auto top off too, The Tunze Osmolator Nano is a great and reliable. I also set up a small huge in one of the second chambers in the back, added live rock rubble and cheatomorpha, it is lit by a 10 watt submersible pond light from Amazon. http://amzn.com/B00Q2W4X76 [FONT=Arial, sans-serif]works really well I harvest a baseball size clump of chaeto every 2-3 weeks. The ghost skimmer is really underwhelming, I'm looking for a better option.
Here's my tank-

To quiet the skimmer down try and make a DIY silencer with an old pill bottle, just drill two holes in the cap, then attach some airline tubing to the skimmer venturi valve and another short piece of airline tubing into the other hole. Then i took the pill bottle and draped it over the back of the tank, and its about 50% quieter than before. Hope that helps!
