yes, I never tried starboard on the bottom. I love the maintenance on a barebottom tank. But I just like a white bottom too much. However the sand gets in your glass cleaner or yourpump blows the sand around. So we will see how it goes.

Ok, Took a half day at work today and got some work done on the tank. I was able to get the tank inside the house, put the tank in place, Plumb in the drain, Mount the Light tree brackets on the back and fill the sump with water. So with that being said I am on the down hill slide of having the tank setup. Now ill let the overflow sit overnight with water in it to ensure there are now leaks. If I get it in gear I could have the tank up in running this weekend. So ill throw in some pictures when there is more to see.

Me too, lol. If you were closer I would ask you to come lend a hand.... haha. Just waiting on my ROdi unit to get caught back up. Having a hard time to justify buying water at the LFS when I have everything here. Ill just have to wait patiently.

where did you get your starboard?

I found this option Buy Starboard Online - The Reef Tank
Buy Starboard Online

Just wanted to let any future BB reefers know that http://www.cuttingboardcompany.com/custom.asp will custom cut (to nearest 1/8") 1/2" or 1" HDPE cutting board material and ship it to you at a pretty reasonable price. I had them cut and send me a 36"X12"X0.5" and it cost $33 total. Customer service was very good. There is an option on their online order form where you can ask them to notify you of the shipping cost before they process your order.

Product info:
"Our Cutting Boards are made of Super High Density Polyethylene Plastic. The plastic cutting boards are Commercial Dishwasher Safe, including the spike temp that exceeds 185°. The cutting boards are stain resistant, warp resistant, non-absorbent and resistant to bending, chipping and cracking. They are USDA, FDA, and approved by the Canada Dept. of Agriculture."

Happy reefing

I paid $45 shipped for the piece of 24x54 starboard. Taking a quick break. I am about ready to shut off the old tank and steal the pump. This is what I have taking a quick one.

I have the water running and everything hooked up. Its not the way I want it but I have to get the livestock transfered. Waiting on temp to level off. Probably start the process in another 15 min.

The Sump is working as it should and no suprises thus far. hooked up the two tunze 6045's and Have a 250w and 200w heater in it right now trying to get it up from 71 degrees. Sitting about 75 now so after I finish taking a little break Ill move the livestock.

Would love to let it sit overnight but I stole the pump from my 50 cube. We will see. I may just put a power head in the 50g and a heater and just wait until tomorrow. we will see.
