Love them big, beautiful fur balls :)

We've got four dogs... Rambo, my old friend, is full Pyrenees. Weighed in about 150, when he was in his prime. Biscuit, our Pyr/Lab mix female, and Max, our 2 year old 3/4 Pyr, 1/4 Anatolian. Max hasn't filled in yet, but I'm guessing he'll top Rambo's max weight one of these days.

Say Hi, Rambo :)

And another of Rambo...

Oh, the other dog isn't a large breed... He's a Shih-tzu. Here's the day we brought him home and introduced him to Rambo and Biscuit :)

Say Hi, Demon!

Here are some of my past babies. We currently only have our 130lb bloodhound mix. He is not good with others, so just him for a while. Loves us and everyone else when we are not around.

None of mine have been as big as these but i lost *******(brown and white pit mix) last year and the pup with him, now a 65lbs dingo, is Bodhi a pit and malinois mix. Thanks all for sharing!

I have a 50 pound 2 1/2 year old border collie female and a 4 year old Great Pyreneese/golden retriever mix male who is 110 pounds and the female bullys the male over not just food but attention! Last night the Golden Pyreneese was cuddling on the couch and the border collie walked in and started attacking him! Like full blown im gonna kill you attacking . I even got some cuts from her accidently biting me while i was stopping them! The male is such a big dog and acts like a tough guy but hes a big scardy cat ! Whenever the border collie walks in the room he goes to a corner sits down and puts his head down into the corner. Weve had such good experience in the past with having 2 dogs and this kind ruins it . We arent horrible people but if it comes down to it were gonna choose the dog weve had for 4 years! And we think we might have to rehome the border cause she attacks him on a daily baisis
What does the border collies exercise routines look like? Do you have any jobs trained into the dog? Herding/working dogs need that energy used up other wise they turn into dennis the menace. Lol
I found lots of fetch with tennis balls/frisbee thrown from the deck to maximize running and tons of toys during rest time. These dogs are totally different than the big breed dogs.

Ok. First off. I know that mini weenies are NOT large breeds... but if you've ever owned one... they'll tell you that they are HUGE.
But if I'm honest...I was looking to memorialize them in this community. They both got to 17 and 17.5 years old and we just put them down to health issues this past weekend.

Sorry to hear about holden. She fetches a lot we have a big fenced backyard and she plays all day and she is constantly learning new tricks. For her shes just all about cuddling and had to be by your side but when she isn't the dog by your side or she doesn't get a treat first she will attack our older dog.

My 120lb rottie Simba. He’s our first family dog and we love this guy dearly. Does any way have any good tips on how to clip their big dogs nails?? He refuses to let me clip them and have to take him to the vet to get it done. First time I tried clipping his nails when he was a puppy, he bit me in the lip.

Cutting some dogs nails is a real pain. I was a vet tech for years. I know. I could not cut my Moose's nails until much older. I had to take him to a groomer. Only ones that could do it. Strange.
Sometimes it helps to not be you doing it. Jsut like examinations and you not present. Makes the dog relax a bit.

Only way I have found is when they are puppies, get them used to you handling their paws and used to clippers. Sometimes, this does not even help. obviously, yours is older, but you can try by playing with his feet and feeling his toenails. Putting pressure on them. Then giving him a treat (if that is a good motivator). My rottie was really good at it as she was also in obedience shows and used to me picking at her.

For Moose, the only way we can do it is for my hubby to hold him in such a way that it is just lightly restrained and then pet him like crazy while I crawl around under him cutting nails as fast as I can.

I had a Bull Mastiff that would come in for nail trims (parents could not do it either). Dad would walk him hard, pick him up onto table and I would cut without touching the paws with my hands. Just clipping. Worked. :) Dad was strong as he was a big boy.
