Large Breed Dogs Anyone?

My Poor Boy She made me snip him. Idk what's so bad about leaving the family jewels intact but she's been wanting to remove them since I brought him home.
Very sad day around here. He literally has tears in his eyes!
Wanted to him to grow up and have pups and be a man someday.

Poor guy looks sad. I did Trixie before her first heat because they say it reduces the risks of cancer significantly in females. I cannot remember if there was a reason behind males.

For females it eliminates the risk of pyometra which sadly my dog Sky got and males it helps with aggression and marking when peeing. They say it reduces/eliminates cancer since they remove the actual flesh so its kinda impossible to get testicular cancer for example when you have no balls LOL.

Hi All just wanted to start a thread here- Mainly so I dont have to continue to hi jack @Mastiffsrule thread haha.
Brief history we just had one of our 14 yrs old mixed breed pass away last year. Very sad and my wife took it super bad.
Prior to her passing we had been in discussion about adding a new member to the family. We agreed on one thing she wanted a smaller easier to care for dog and I wanted a big dog and after a couple years debate of getting a new puppy she finally came to me one day and said maybe it is time.
To me that was the green light I needed lol! And I ran out and picked up the biggest dog I could find at the moment hahahaha.
I feel like my wife instantly knew that's exactly what I was going to do lol.
Anyhow since bringing our new baby home my wife has fallen in love with this monster! He doesnt leave her side.
Biggest baby in the world literally afraid of his own shadow. Our joke in the house is it's ok he has mama but i protect him haha.
Super well behaved and socialized there are videos of him floating around youtube with a baby wiener his own age crawling all over his head lol.
Just got his DNA back today he is 37.5% Dogue Bourdeax Mastiff, 37.5% Cane Corso and the rest Bull Mastiff.
Super happy to hear no risk for any issues besides he may need to wear glasses when he gets older lol
He is 9 months old and 117 lbs his last appt!
He gained 1.75lbs/day his first 2 weeks we brought him home lol. Wasn't very small for long haha
Anyhow I could talk about my boy Moose all day long.

Love the mastiff breeds. Growing up my parents had, and still have English Mastiffs. They have all been such awesome dogs. Their hearts are as big as they are. The only downside is their life expectancy and some of the common health issues. That said, the good far outweighs the bad.

Dude he literally had tears in his eyes and rolling down his cheeks when i picked him up.
Last night was rough had to spoon feed him water cause pain meds had him scared of everything.
Hasn't left my side since he's been home.

I’m sure that was a tough loss, but 14 is an amazingly long life.

I have 2 Pyrenees mixes. I think I’ll always have a working breed dog, but I’m not sure I’ll have 2 dogs again. The smaller female is about 60lbs and get very food/attention aggressive with the 120lb one.

I love my Pyrenees! With the exception of all the hair she leaves everywhere!

Would a great thread! I am the owner of the 3 large mixed breeds. I am always on a lookout because of my tanks, but thank Goodness never had any problems. I wish I had the all in one picture but they are so frisky Love Bull Mastiffs btw!

Love the big guys. We have a four year-old Bouvier des Flandres we rescued when he was about one. Zeppelin aka Big Z. We keep him shaved, for his sanity and ours in this hot climate (if you've ever seen a Bouvier with a full coat, they rather resemble a giant Schnauzer). When we first brought him home, his fur was so matted it was creating open sores on his skin.

Whoever hacked his ears off really mutilated them. We don't understand the point, since the breeder decided he wasn't show quality due to his over-large size and a few other deviations. So why do it? Meh.

He has a nice "crypt keeper/gargoyle" vibe but is really super sweet. Here he is last year, with his brother. Last time he was weighed he was about 130 lbs:




A few years ago, when we tried to shave him ourselves. This was mid-shave, and our first attempt. He uh...had an interesting look going.



His brindle pattern only emerges with the short coat. Full coat has him resembling a fluffy soot-colored bear-sheep.
