Well returned from vacation yesterday and I'm a tad confused as to what Ive found.... Tank looks great except for a birdsnest starting to STN. The little bits of hair algae I used to have are gone and the chaeto in my reactor is melting. Tested nitrates and they're up near 50 and my Kalk solution ran dry a couple of days before I got back. Have taken steps to bring down nitrate, takes the chaeto reactor offline but i guess I dont understand with nitrates being so high as to cause STN why has my display algae all but disappeared?? Anyway shouldn't be too hard to recover from and my fault for having not topped off the Kalk before leaving.

The new fish added a couple weeks before leaving has totally changed the dynamic in the tank. Everyone's out swimming freely much more without the 6 Line and Flameback Angel.

I'd wager someone is eating the gha in the DT.

The chato, where's your phosphate at now.

Quite possible the high nitrates are the melted chato.

PO4 came in at .09

Started w/Nopox to get NO3 down and killed flow to the chaeto. will do a couple 10g water changes this week.

My yellow tang has been out swimming more, maybe hes snacking on the hair alage and just havent seen it yet.
