I ordered the flex 153 at a ridiculous import price, trailing one to start with before mist likely adding a second.

Really interested in buying a X for my 3ft tank when more info is released. Have to say ATI is a bit behind on the marketing aspects, really dredging for information rather than having it easily to hand.

I was considering the flex for my waterbox 330.7 but can’t get much info. It would be a mix reef, more LPS, but the I’m worried about the length. Dimensions: 84.1 in x 29.5 in x 25.6 in
Thoughts?

I would think the 153 is too short for that tank. Check out 3 of the GHL Mitras LB3 in 190 or 200cm

Also waiting in line for the new Straton X for my 72x24x24.

Was in the fence to get the Flex 153 but a little worried with a entire unit if something goes bad and turn over if i have to send it for repair. Now if i look cost effective it is better the Flex 153 over the Straton X which will have to get at least 2 to coverage the tank.

Any suggestions on you guys that have been using the Flex for a while?

Thanks in advance...

I'm in the same boat as you. I have the same tank dims for 180g (72x24x24) and I'm also waiting for their new "X" line to come out. So, are you thinking or have you heard that ATI is moving away from the longer Flex153 type of light? I thought this light was a great solution because I only had to buy 1 fixture and not 2-3.

Based on what I've read about the Flex153... they state that the max tank length should be 72".

I talked to the guys at stratton and their concerned is the water boxes have cross braces and the flex would cause quite a bit of shadowing. Unfortunately the pro’s are no longer being made and the X wouldn’t cover quite enough.

Got my Flex 102 today. Quite the "no frills" packaging for a $1200 light, but that's ATI.

The solid aluminum light has some weight to it. Very nice looking.

I have to figure out how I am going to mount it to my light rack. I will be running 10 series 8020 perpendicular instead of parallel and will need to print my own adapter. Hopefully tomorrow I will at least be able to test what it looks like over the tank.
Did you print your own for 1.5x1.5 if so I need some if you could help me out.

I FINALLY have completed my prototype mounting bracket for the Flex and it is strong and works well. It takes advantage of the T-Slot in the 8020 bar to mount instead of going around the entire bar like the ATI design.

It also allows the option to mount using one parallel T-slot bar like in the picture or two T-slot bars running perpendicular to the Flex fixture depending on the setup.

So best part is that I can now get the Flex mounted above my 48"x24" tomorrow. I hope to have basic PAR numbers this weekend.

I need a pair of mounts for 1.5.x1.5. Could I buy some off you?

I have the same size tank and will start with one and then determine if I need a second for coverage (my tank is very full).

I get the coverage argument about shading and dont disagree, but the light panel on a Radion G6 is less than 6" wide and most people wouldn't put four of those on a 48X24" tank. Thats effectively what two Flexes would be.
Granted, I’m all SPS and I’m 96x36. I’m wanting to replace the Radions and Stratton is in my top 3’lights I am researching. I also have the high intensity lense kits on these Radions. I really don’t think it is uncommon to pack more Radions in for better overall performance.

I was hoping with 4 102s, I could also eliminate the T5s, but I don’t think that is realistic. By the looks of it, I’d have to go with 8 flex to get similar performance of my Radion / T5 setup. But with dual runs of Flex, I can angle them differently.

Would you mind sharing the STL file? I’d like to print the same thing, but I’m using 1.5 x 1.5” . Do you happen to know t-slot the channel dimensions for for 1.0” x 1.0” ?

It is so weird I keep seeing threads for this light after my reefbreeders stopped responding. So I hang my lights. Are these hangable or do I need to buy something else? It looks like from what I see here they should just hook right up to my kit.

So I put my order in 3 weeks ago now and called to check on it today. Apparently it’s not even manufactured yet never mind been shipped. Was told a 2-6 weeks wait but looking like it could be longer.
