I just purchased about 10 florida rics that I should have in a couple days, would it be best to put them in a small container with rubble so they attach or can I put them directly on the sand bed in a low flow area. The tank they are going in has minimal rock but a lot of sand bed, going to be a chalice dominate tank and I like the look of chalices growing on the sand rather then over rocks.

some folks have kept rics on the sand bed for many years sucessfuly

guess You need to decide where You wish to keep them for the long hull will thay be in the way of chalice ??
if so now is as good time as any to get started mounting them
keep in mind it will be best to photo acclimate them & offer a spot feeding of liquid food a day or so after thay are in the tank

The tank they are going to go in is a 40 breeder with a single 250 watt in a lumenarc reflector, this should be enough light for most of the tank and I can keep lower light coral to the sides of the tank. I might off center the reflector and set up some LEDs to one side if a single L3 is not enough for the whole tank.

that is a nice ric .. i get some crazy rics all the time from the keys .. my friend is a collector and diver in the keys and sells to LFS on florida's west coast and east coast .. hes been bring up some really nice rics since the winter ..
