Good Evening!

My dad has been running is Marine tank again for just over 2 years now! I help him a lot with the tank, I have noticed that the batfish he is keeping has really cloudy eye on the Left side and a little cloudy on the Right.

The fish are currently undergoing quarantine as his regal tang has white spot/ich, We caught it quite quickly so hopefully we can aid them in getting better quicker. They are currently undergoing a Cuprazin treatment and have done the 3rd dosing today to hopefully bring it up to just over .5ppm (at test today was .37ppm)

Forgive me for the poor photos, They clearly dont like having their photo taken.

A few of the fish have bits of their fins missing, and i wonder if its due to stress of being moved, They are currently in a 180 litre which is a drastic difference to the just over 900 litres they live in usually.

We have in the tank -

3 Cardinals
1 Fox Face Rabbitfish
1 Royal Gramma
2 Humbug Damsels
3 Black Bar Chromis
1 Blue Green Chromis
1 Regal Tang
1 Sailfin Tang
1 Pair of Clownfish
1 Hawknose fish

Any help would be appreciated, I usually come here to read through different threads etc, as the advice seems to be the best, I know there is a lot of conflicting information on the internet.

Thanks for reading

Nadine

Batfish are very prone to a skin fluke called Neobenedenia that causes cloudy eyes. It may also be a reaction to having ich - Nadine does seem to have some spots on it.

Hi Jay! Thanks for your comments, Yes i did fear this, I was reading another forum on here in regards to Flukes yesterday!

Will the copper treatment help to cure this? Is there anything we can do in future.

Ive told dad not to buy anymore fish, And if he does not at least for another 12 months and weve found a reputable Marine Specialist close by to use who has been doing it for 14 years.

We did lose a Bicolour goatfish (forgot to put those on the list) We do have cleaner shrimp and believe they cleared up, as we never found the poor mite once he'd died

Copper does not seem to help in combatting fluke infestations - praziquantel (or low salinity in some cases) works better.
In most disease cases, if the original problem has been controlled, there isn't any real need to avoid adding new fish beyond around 74 days. Better still, is to use a comprehensive quarantine protocol for all new fish.
