I got a wonderful frag of peace coral from Creetin awhile back. It had grown to about 4 polyps as of yesterday. I got up this morning to see the frag sitting upside down on a $10 chalice. (I hate crabs!)

I did a kent-D soak on it and put it in lower light in the frag tray.

Is there anything else I can do? Can it possibly survive this trauma?

I'm so bummed. This was one of my favorites.

Hopefully it will recover. Can chalice do damage to other corals? Should I be keeping my chalice away from other corals?

Chalice have a decently strong sting. Some chalice will even sting another. Echinophyllia, Echinopora, Oxypora, and Mycedium will definitely sting each other. The same type wont sting another of the same type. EX: Echinophyllia will not sting Echinophyllia. If I remember right, Oxypora and Mycedium have the strongest sting amoung chalice types. They dont usually have sweepers though, so you only have to worry about them if they fall on something, or something falls on them. The chalice I sent you Jesse were both Echinophyllia.

Dad, I hope it recovers well. I can't think of anything else I would do for it, except wait...

Update

Alex, you weren't kidding when you said this coral was hardy. I thought the whole thing was a gonner. Today I checked the frag tray and 3 out of the 4 polyps are recovering.:D

I just put it in the frag tray and ignored it. It really was a suprise. I now have an extra piece because I got a frag from zep in my last package.

Thanks Alex for looking out for me.
