Peanut's Dream Build - Jumbo Edition

I was on vacation but now it’s full speed ahead.

Over the weekend I got the major plumbing complete. 2 COR 20s plumbed to separate return lines.

the first return line goes to the closet and feeds the UV before coming back and into the tank. I added valves so that the UV can be taken out of the loop to be serviced etc while the tank keeps running along.

The second return has a manifold where it splits off 3/4” for the chiller and an additional split for future use.

Red is the stock tank drain lines. Blue is the custom return lines.

Finally got everything in place. Attached the last 2 pieces of the cabinet which added supports where the doors meet. Time to add water and test for leaks

Tank looks amazing with just the 2 kessils running

One pump has been running for a day, things are looking good. Maybe another day or so and I will drain the tap water and start making RO.

I started washing the fiji pink sand today....that lasted over an hour and I only got through about 40 lbs. It went from completely milky to slightly cloudy, so thats a plus. It's definitely going to save days of cloudiness when I setup the tank.

I am not looking forward to the next 80 lbs.

I swapped the pump to the other return line. Everything still looking good. Sand still needs to be washed :expressionless-face:

I started working on some electronics.

In the cabinet, I left space for an EV832 and I mounted
2 COR 20 controller units
Orbit 4 controller
2 Jecod DMP40 controllers
ReefRun controller

In the closet:
I installed an EB832
I ran an aquabus cable from the closet to the cabinet
I connected the Neptune solenoid on the RO line to the EB832
I installed a Neptune FMM and connected to the EB832
I connected the 1" flow meter that's installed on the UV return line, to the FMM
I installed a 4" LLS in the pump return chamber and connected it to the FMM
I put a Solid Surface Leak Detection Probe under the stand and connected to the FMM

wire management underway for it all.....

I wasn’t sure what kind of return flow I would get after all the plumbing. To the closet, through the UV, back to the tank. Lots of turns. Turns out pretty good after all. It’s almost like I made a deal with the devil.

That’s on the UV return. Other side should be even faster. 1300+ gph total between the 2 COR pumps should be plenty.

I learned the hard way to wash my Fiji pink sand. It took me over a week to get one to clear up after filling my tank without washing the sand 1st.

That was after adding carbon and seachem clear to help.

Moving whatever I can....I removed the LSM and WXM that I had installed on the existing tanks and added them to the closet. I much prefer the lunar lighting from the LSM vs the Radion fixtures. Installed some of the new equipment. Also added some wire management.

I'm so jealous of your closet! :-)

More equipment under the tank. I think the control panel is pretty much done. I do have an MP 40 on the old tanks I will eventually move over.

I did move over the Apex head unit from the old tanks to the new. I installed a PM1 I had on the old tanks so i can continue to monitor the pH over there.

Ordered a $20 table online to squeeze in a DOS and Trident. Moving the Trident over is going to be tricky.

Great build thread! I can commiserate with the sand. Just finished washing my 40lb special grade. Total washing time: 6 hr. And this is what I satisfactorily ended up with:

First wash looked like a frozen milk shake!

Looking forward to seeing your progress!
