So here you go @ScottR hopefully I don’t get to many giggles out of my notebook and chicken scratch, LoL :)

For PH-Temp, KH, CA, and PO4 Hanna tester
For Mag and N03 Red Sea test kit (and after N03 Red Sea I now use Nyos test kit)
Salinity (BRS refractometer )
And for potassium or (pot) Elos test kit it’s the new addition to my test kits!
On the last parameter testing 6/29, I also tested the Aquaforest Reef Salt that I made 10 gallons for a small water change. I hope that this helps and if there’s any questions about anything or hand writing, LoL, just hit me up! :) oh yeah something else that I forgot, I don’t test everything all of the time, just if I suspect something is wrong or not looking right!

Thank you very much, (Very Humbling) and I forgot to tell you that I have always ran a hose from the outside to feed my skimmer, makes a world of difference for higher PH and consistent PH levels. My nutrients are a little high because I started feeding more and more often, I am now still feeding often but using smaller amounts so that nutrients don’t get any higher ! I don’t try to chase numbers but I do like to know what’s going on so I’ll test often, even though I am guilty of not always testing, I went like a month without testing and found my KH at 10.8, that’s why this month I have tested a lot more. I go the natural route so I have a fuge with cheato, skimmer some AF Bio Fil and one Brightwell Block that I never seeded! Filter floss is the first thing that the water passes by, and that’s it. I do dose AF 123. Thank you again !

I agree, amazing looking tank, makes me very jealous!

Thanks for posting your AF reef salt tests. I use this also and have been meaning to get around to running a set of tests myself. It is interesting to see the high Mg and Alk levels in your tests. This is above what they quote and for my most recent batch their ICP test results. Interestingly my tank also tests high for Mg (~1600).

I will definitely test my next AF batch. I don’t doubt that their ICP tests are accurate, it will just be interesting to see how my tests compare.

Thank you @Tastee :) , it’s been running since March 2018. I have always had higher levels of Mag ! So When I made that last batch of water that was tested, I took the purple bag out of the bucket (dry) and tossed it around to make sure that everything was thoroughly mixed. I recalibrated my refractometer (to make sure that I was doing everything correct) and I mixed the salt with a pump and heater to 35 ppm. So Please let me know when you test your NSW, because I am very curious to see what you get in your test results. Another reefer was the one that told me that he tested NSW and that his Mag was always high too using the same salt. My batch number is 815346, I got this bucket from BRS like 2 months ago. So please let me know when you do it, Thank You and I’ll be standing by.

As of today:
7/4
Kh 8.1 (goal 8.5 - 9.5)
Ca 430 (goal 430 - 450)
Mg 1400 (goal 1400 - 1440)
Po4 0 (first tested today)
No3 0 (first tested today)
Ph 8.0 (goal 8.2) just fed coral last night and usually drops ph next day... I think from bacteria eating but not sure.

I have 10 gallon nano and keeping Kh stable is impossible! I dose kalk at night, added 10 - 15 ml vinegar per gallon for carbon and to increase saturation. With NO4 and PO4 being 0, maybe I need to stop the vinegar. Only color of coral that is really great is my greens, everything else is kinda washed out.

I also dose buffer and calcium during the day. When I don’t dose enough, Kh drops. When I dose more, it just precipitates.

This is why I just got a bigger tank, 60 cube with a sump. Hopefully going to be much more stable. Can’t wait to get it set up

Po4 = .02
Salt = 1.025
Don’t know No3, need a good test kit, what’s the best?

I recently had a Po4 spike to .16 and lost a couple of acro’s and seems to have slowed most sps growth somewhat. Everything is doing better but not growing as fast it was yet.
I Recently switched to NYOS nitrate test kit and find it incredibly easy to get an accurate reading from 0-20

As of this morning:

Alk - 7.2
Cal - 430
Mag - over 1500 Salifert tops out at that and I have no need to know the exact number. IO salt has always had high mag, but it is of no issue and has always been sky high in my tank with no ill effects.
NO3 - 8
PO4. - .03 Algae scrubber keeps NO3 and PO4 in check.
PH - 8.0 to 8.4 running an airline outside to my skimmer has made a huge difference. Used to be 7.6 to 7.8 I did try the outside airline one other time and it made little no difference. My new skimmer pulls way more air then my old one and it most certainly has made a huge impact on my tank.

I test ALK every other day, and the rest once a week. They stay pretty rock solid.

I always had that mag problem. Tank eats alk. I dose Ca. But mag never fluctuates much. Around 1350-1400. Used to max out on my salifert too.

Edit: high mag isn’t a problem :)

My parameters as of last weekend

Salinity 35.5 ppm Hanna
Temp 78.3 Apex
Ph 8.17 Apex
Alk 8.4 Hanna
Cal 450 Red Sea
Mag 1500 Red Sea
Nitrates 10 ppm Red Sea
Phosphates .09 Hanna

For the longest of time I was having bryopsis issues and using reef flux to kill it which would cause my nitrates and phosphates to be crazy high, been dosing NoPox to bring it down over the past 4 weeks after my last battle with bryopsis, finally close to where I want it to be. Also, for the longest I could not get my cal above 390, after this last battle with bryopsis I did 2 big water changes and also raised my mag from 1400 to 1500 and for whatever reason now my cal has stabilized around 450. Wish I new why. I raised my mag from 1400 to 1500 because over the past several months when I tested my mag it was always 1400, their is no way it could be that consistent, so I bought another test and guess what, 1400, so for the heck of it I raised it to 1500 and now my cal is stable at 450, was it the water changes or raising the mag or something else, wish I knew.

I’m always honest!

But I don’t test my water........ other than 79.1 degrees and 8.24 pH right now per Apex
