I want to treat the display for possible flukes. My tailspot blenny seemed to have neobendenia Highly unlikely I will be able to get my wrasses out to do a freshwater dip to look for any that come off--it'll do more damage than good, I think. I understand there are high risks to feather dusters and some worms, as well as potential risk to other invert like shrimp. One invert I don't know about and didn't find info in a quick search was sea cucumbers. Does anyone know if Prazipro will harm sea cucumbers or cause them to release toxins? @Jay Hemdal ? I have a very small yellow sea cucumber, the filter feeding type, that I'm quite fond of.

@Jay Hemdal I was also wondering if there is an updated protocol for display treatment of Prazipro, regarding degradation. Is there a schedule for more frequent dosing? Is the bacterial population consuming it primarily on the substrate or in the water column (i.e., would UV help clear knock down the bacterial population so that the next dose is more effective)? Thanks!

Youre on the right page- A risk with worms, dusters, and pods. When in use can raise ammonia from dead worms and reduces oxygen. If using prazi- dose at 80% of recommended with added air using air stone

I used to tell people that Prazi might kill feather dusters and other worms, but it seems to be directed specifically to flukes and tapeworms. Some people have reported that corals and feather dusters will close up for a short time after a dose of powdered prazi, but that is probably a result of the undissolved powder landing on them, Prazipro doesn't seem to cause that. I've never heard of any issues with sea cucumbers.

There is no formula to calculate the bacteria growth after each prazi treatment, but Prazipro, with 95% glycol solvent (also eaten by the bacteria) may create issues faster than powdered pure prazi does. This bacteria, like most heterotrophic species, live on substrates, not free in the water, so UV does not seem to help with this issue.

Good to know, thanks Jay! I guess course will be to follow instructions and just keep an eye on things. >2 treatments for Neobendenium was the recommendation, I believe.

I've had lots of issues fully curing Neobenedenia with just prazi. I've found that up to five doses are needed. The very best way to treat that is 30 days of hyposalinity at about 15 ppt salinity or a SG of 1.012
