i have a bucket about half full of sand that i had in my tank for asbout 4 months and has been sitting in the bucket for about another four months. I washed it out a bunch of times yesterday and am wondering if you guys think it would be ok for me to use this sand in my already established tank. Also I have another half bucket of sandfrom a tank that was neglected for a few months. I washed all of that out really good too. I just wanted to make sure i can reuse my sand and if i should dry it out for a few days or if im ok to put it in.

not the greatest idea but if you want to just add it very slow like a cup a day.... adding all that at once will most likely cause a mini cycle.....

So long as the sand is well rinsed with saltwater, you should have no issues. I reset tanks all the time and reuse sand - not like it wears out LOL. Biggest issue is accumulated debris, but so long as it is well rinsed, there is nothing wrong with it.

I would reuse it but maybe run some Phosban or other GFO product for awhile if you do not already do so to adsorb any lingering phosphates.
