Do you store RO DI water? Does it have an oder?

RO/DI water should not have any odor at all. You can store it, but it should always be in a tightly sealed clean container so that nothing can get into it and contaminate it. I suspect that this is the source of any odor you may have.

Absolutely, if you have any odor..... something has gotten into the water or something is up with your container.

What is your best guess based on what you know about your situation?

Its a Rubbermaid 55 Gallon Trash Can and I use the lid and keep it on there, but when I need water out of it, I take the lid off. I have used the water for a year now from this container and I got it a lowes brand new. The tanks I use the water on are fine, no problems at all, but I have always wondered about the smell in the container.

You've got bacteria (or another microorganism) living in your water container. Its making the smell. I'd be willing to bet that if you ran your finger along the inside of the container that it would feel slimy.

You can sterilize the container with some diluted bleach for 30min. Treat it with some dechlorinater overnight, and then rinse it good.

We should probably all be doing that every once in a while. Its also a good idea to do a similar thing to your RO/DI unit (without the filters in place) periodically. Bacteria can and will grow in there.
